Scientist II – Senior Scientist  PROTEIN BIOCHEMISTRY, PURIFICATION

Position Summary

TCG Labs-Soleil is seeking an experienced and driven protein biochemist to join our growing multidisciplinary biologics Technology team. An instrumental member of the Protein Sciences group, this role will leverage strong expertise in protein purification, biophysical characterization, and biochemical modifications to contribute to the discovery and advancement of an exciting and innovative protein and antibody focused therapeutic pipeline.  This candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude and work closely with scientists across research.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and execute purification strategies for recombinant proteins from a variety of host cells (mammalian, insect, and bacterial cells).
  • Biophysical characterization of purified proteins using appropriate instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot and persevere on difficult projects to successful conclusions.
  • Responsible for supporting the needs of multiple drug discovery projects and science objectives in parallel.
  • Prepare precise technical summaries, protocols and maintenance of appropriate documentation.

 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology or a related discipline with postdoc and 2-5+ years relevant industry experience
  • B.S. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology or a related discipline equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong experience in protein biochemistry, protein purification (using affinity and traditional chromatographic techniques), protein modification using enzymatic and chemical methods, and biophysical characterization.
  • Hands-on, extensive experience with instrumentation essential for protein purification, especially AKTA FPLC and Agilent or Vanquish HPLC systems.
  • Extensive experience with SDS PAGE or CE-SDS, Western blotting and other protein characterization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with small scale (milligram level) protein purification either via manual gravity or spin column or HTP automated chromatography method.
  • Hands-on experience with large scale (gram level) endotoxin free production of antibody and protein therapeutics. 
  • Familiarity of constructs design for challenging targets in various expression systems is desired, such as solid understanding of vector elements and utilization of solubility enhancing elements.
  • Experience with successful purification of integral membrane proteins with working knowledge of detergents and NanoDiscs is desired.
  • Hands-on experience with small to large scale production of protein conjugates is a plus.
  • Must be able to thrive and deliver results on goals in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly multi-tasking environment.
  • Must work well independently and as a member of teams in an inclusive manner.
  • Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills.

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role will be $105,000 - $187,500 annually (not including discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits). The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors that include but are not limited to relevant previous experience including duration and type of experience within the industry, education, and internal equity.
