Position Summary

TCG Labs-Soleil is seeking an experienced Director/Sr Director with a strong track record of advancing biologics-focused therapeutic pipelines to head the Protein Sciences team and to build top-line capabilities to support biotherapeutic discovery and development.  As part of a dynamic and collaborative Research team, the Director/Sr Director will be a hands-on leader whose responsibilities include overseeing protein design, engineering, production, and characterization of innovative and diverse antibody-focused biotherapeutics.  This role will implement new technologies as needed and streamline lab workflows to increase throughput and efficiency.  The Director will work collaboratively with colleagues across Research and Development.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand the Protein Sciences team to build and strengthen capabilities in protein design, engineering, production and characterization of diverse antibody-focused biologics, including analytical and bioanalytical characterization and developability activities
  • Provide innovative and strategic technology solutions for the design and optimization of biotherapeutic formats, their activity and development
  • Establish and maintain state-of-the-art methods and instrumentation for purification and analysis, with emphasis on biophysical and functional characterization of antibodies and proteins and their interactions
  • Guide internal bioanalytical and developability capabilities
  • Implement automation where feasible to enable higher-throughput production workflows 
  • Be a hands-on leader, creative problem solver, mentor and role model for your direct reports and colleagues
  • Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of experiments, ensuring the highest scientific rigor and quality
  • Participate on project teams and with Research leadership decisions
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders and serve as subject matter expert for Protein Sciences
  • Assist with IND preparations

 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with over 12 years of relevant experience in therapeutic biologics research, and 6+ years leading teams focused on advancing therapeutic biologic pipelines, or B.S. / M.S. with equivalent work experience.
  • Broad subject matter experience spanning engineering, purification, and characterization of therapeutic biologics and the ability to guide a team that has deep expertise in these areas
  • A hands-on leadership style with creative problem-solving skills
  • A track record of establishing and meeting production goals that consistently meet quality requirements is essential
  • Deep understanding of the production of diverse biologics formats including bi- and multispecific antibodies and fusion proteins, and difficult-to-handle antigens including some membrane protein classes.
  • Experience with diverse protein/antibody purification approaches, and analytical characterization for purity, integrity, post-translational modifications, aggregation, stability, solubility, and developability
  • Experience with implementing laboratory automation and developing high-throughput processes to improve efficiency and process reproducibility is desired
  • A track record of being an outstanding leader and collaborator that has a can-do attitude towards problem solving and is a role model for reports and colleagues.

Benefits and Compensation

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role will be $168,000 - $356,250 annually (not including discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits). The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors that include but are not limited to relevant previous experience including duration and type of experience within the industry, education, and internal equity.
