Position Summary

TCG Labs-Soleil is seeking a highly experienced and driven principal scientist to lead our protein purification and biochemistry efforts. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role advancing our protein therapeutics research and development programs. This role requires deep expertise in protein purification, biochemistry, and a strong focus on therapeutic applications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading complex R&D projects, mentoring junior scientists, and contributing to the strategic direction of the Protein Sciences group. This candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude and lead from the bench.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead from the bench, perform and manage protein purification efforts in the protein science group
  • Manage direct report(s) and lead the Soleil lab protein purification team
  • Design and execute antigen protein constructs, protein therapeutic constructs including antibodies, bispecifics, and fusion proteins
  • Lead or co-lead Soleil drug discovery programs through successful design, execution, and interpretation of experiments focused on protein purification, characterization, and functional analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate protein science insights into multiple drug discovery and development programs.
  • Prepare and present project updates in company research meetings, team meetings, and various board meetings as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, chemical engineering, or a related discipline with postdoc and industry experience
  • Minimal of 9 years of post-doctoral experience in protein purification and biochemistry, with a significant portion in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting.
  • Hands-on, extensive expertise in the purification and characterization of therapeutic proteins including antibodies, bispecifics, and fusion proteins.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing direct reports and mentoring scientific teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Extensive experience with all the protein characterization techniques and be able to troubleshoot and lead from the bench.
  • Hands-on experience from small (milligram level) to large scale (gram level) endotoxin-free production of antibody and protein therapeutics. Experience in the development of broad protein-based modalities and therapeutics in various disease areas from early discovery to IND filing is highly desired
  • Must be able to thrive and deliver results on goals in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly multi-tasking environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills.

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role will be $140,000 - $250,000 annually (not including discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits). The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors that include but are not limited to relevant previous experience including duration and type of experience within the industry, education, and internal equity.
