As our presence across Africa continues to expand, we're looking for an ambitious Business Development Executive to help identify new opportunities, build strategic relationships and support our commercial growth across South Africa and the broader African market.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, building relationships and uncovering commercial opportunities. Working closely with our global Business Development and Leadership teams, you'll be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, engaging prospective partners and supporting the growth of OTTera's platform, distribution and monetization services throughout Africa.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the fastest-growing sectors in media and entertainment while gaining exposure to international clients and global streaming businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across South Africa and selected African markets.
  • Research prospective clients including broadcasters, content owners, production companies, telecom operators, brands and digital platforms.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting through email, LinkedIn, networking events and industry conferences.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline using CRM tools.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings for senior business development executives.
  • Assist with proposal development, presentations and commercial documentation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing partners.
  • Track industry trends across OTT, FAST, AVOD, SVOD, Connected TV and digital media.
  • Represent OTTera professionally at industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Prepare weekly pipeline updates and activity reports.
  • Collaborate with internal product, operations and marketing teams to support commercial initiatives.
  • Support partner onboarding and ensure a smooth transition from sales to delivery teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Media or a related field.
  • 2–5 years' experience in business development, sales, partnerships or account management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management.
  • Commercially curious with a proactive approach to finding opportunities.
  • Comfortable engaging with senior executives and decision makers.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, LinkedIn lead generation or other Sales Navigation tools.
