Title: Security Specialist - Refugee Reception and Placement (R&P) Program
Status: Full-time (Temporary – 06.2024 to 9/30/2025)

Position Summary:
The Security Specialist for the Refugee Reception and Placement (R&P) Program will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of refugees, staff, and facilities at affiliate locations. This position involves developing, implementing, and monitoring security protocols and procedures to mitigate potential risks and threats. This position will manage and train security focal points at affiliate locations and liaise with contacts on the ground to gather incidents and maintain an incident database.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular security risk assessments at affiliate sites and identify vulnerabilities and potential security threats.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive security plans and SOPs tailored to each affiliate site, including emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.
- Conduct training needs assessments and provide security training and awareness programs to staff and refugees to ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Establish a system for continuous security monitoring, including the use of security cameras, access control systems, and alarms.
- Lead crisis management efforts in the event of security incidents and coordinate with local authorities and emergency services as needed.
- Ensure that all security measures align with legal requirements, industry best practices, and State Department guidelines.
- Raise awareness of reporting pathways and maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and actions taken.
- Report security-related matters to senior management.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement, relevant agencies, and partner organizations to enhance security coordination.
- Conduct periodic security audits and inspections of affiliate sites to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Certification in security management is a plus.
- Proven experience in security management, preferably in a refugee or humanitarian context.
- Strong understanding of security risk assessments, crisis management, and emergency response procedures.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to diverse cultural contexts.
- Flexibility in work schedule (i.e. evenings and weekends as necessary), willingness to travel.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
