Job Title: Human Resources Generalist - USRAP

Position summary:
The HR Generalist plays a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of the USRAP (United States Refugee Admissions Program) team. This role involves a wide range of HR activities, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and administration. The HR Generalist ensures that policies and procedures are consistently applied and that the organization adheres to legal standards. This position requires close collaboration with the USRAP team to support their specific HR needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the USRAP team to understand and support their specific HR needs.
- Provide tailored HR solutions and support to ensure the efficient functioning of the USRAP team.
- Assist with the coordination of USRAP events and activities, including employee recognition programs.
- Coordinate and manage the recruitment process, including job postings, screening candidates, and managing the selection process, with a focus on the needs of the USRAP team.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
- Conduct new hire orientations and ensure that new employees are well-acquainted with company policies and procedures, including mandatory training outlined in the Safeguarding policy.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance on HR-related matters.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and assist in addressing employee grievances and disciplinary actions.
- Promote a positive work environment by implementing employee engagement initiatives and fostering a culture of open communication.
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance appraisal systems.
- Support managers in conducting performance evaluations and provide guidance on employee development plans.
- Monitor employee performance and provide support in addressing performance issues.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies, keeping abreast of changes in employment legislation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, attendance records, and compensation details.
- Manage HR-related documentation, such as employment contracts, termination letters, and other legal documents.
- Identify training needs and coordinate employee training and development programs, including mandatory quarterly and annual training outlined in the Safeguarding policy.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops on various HR topics, including compliance, diversity, and employee development.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Assist in the administration of employee compensation and benefits programs.
- Handle employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, and other compensation-related matters.
- Prepare and maintain HR reports and metrics, providing insights to management for decision-making.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience working in human resources with a strong knowledge in all functional areas of human resources.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in and ability to learn about the varied areas of program work of Islamic Relief USA; commitment to the humanitarian sector.
- Strong organizational skills; orientation toward efficiency and task completion, ability to effectively manage data; strict attention to details.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain composure under pressure, skilled at maintaining positive communications and relations with colleagues and a wide range of external partners
- Ability to effectively manage up and achieve results without formal authority, cross-cultural competency.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and database usage and ability to quickly master information systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
