About the Tech Skills Fellowship Program:

AOT’s Tech Skills Annual Fellowship Cycle is designed to provide high quality and tech-specific education for AOT college-aged alumni to prepare them for internships and careers in the technology field. We partner with corporations for specific skill verticals where students learn the basics of one of the following topics: 

  • Product Management

  • Data Science

  • Digital Marketing

  • Cybersecurity 

  • User Experience (UX) Design  

 

In each program vertical, students will build projects to hone their skill set and engage in a curriculum designed in partnership with the teaching experts at AOT and industry leaders. This program will culminate in projects and hands-on learning to prepare students for a career in their focus area of choice.

 

Our Tech Skills Fellowship instructor will work with 1 cohort of 25 students who meet once a week for 1.5 hours. The cohort will be made up of college students ranging in age from freshman to seniors.

 

Instructor Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Curriculum Prep and Instruction:

  • Review AOT’s curriculum on a weekly basis to ensure command of material

  • Prep auxiliary activities or examples to bring the content to life for students

  • Lead all content sessions, paying particular attention to student engagement

  • Work with the program manager to develop remediation plans to support student content mastery

  • Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported in their learning journey

 

Data Management:

  • Ensure complete student submission of all program assignments and projects

  • Assess student projects and assignments using AOT-developed rubrics, providing regular written and verbal feedback 

    • All feedback must be returned to students no later than two weeks after submission

  • Provide summary data on key metrics for program reports

 

General:

  • Uphold AOT’s core values in all aspects of the role

  • Foster and maintain a positive and welcoming classroom environment for all program participants and partners 

  • Attend meetings with the Program Team to discuss program impact and to troubleshoot any challenges, as needed - in addition to completing mid and post-program surveys to assess program and report on instructor experience 

  • Complete any additional duties as assigned

 

The ideal candidate for Cybersecurity Instructor will:

  • Be available Tuesdays from 4pm-5:30pm EST from February 17, 2025 - April 25, 2025, PLUS

    • 1 hour per week to hold office hours

    • 1 hour per week to review and give feedback on assignments 

  • Attend a 1-hour orientation with AOT in preparation for the fellowship on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 4-5pm EST.

  • Have the knowledge and the ability to deliver high quality Cybersecurity lessons using a built-out curriculum, provided by AOT

    • AOT asks that the Instructor reviews the curriculum and provides feedback prior to the start of the Fellowship. We expect this task to take no more than 2 hours.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will show up each day excited to support students to success, doing whatever it takes to ensure a dynamic, encouraging, and successful program experience for all. Ideal candidates also:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or at least 2-3 years of equivalent experience

  • Have expertise and experience in Cybersecurity. Curriculum could include topics such as:

    • Cybersecurity Support Roles

    • Microsoft Windows Administration Fundamentals

    • Secure Network Client Fundamentals

    • Enterprise Campus Network Fundamentals

    • Enterprise Network Application Fundamentals

    • Cybersecurity Controls

    • Linux App Server Fundamentals

    • Automation Scripting Fundamentals

    • Data Management Fundamentals

  • Have experience in technology instruction, particularly with a college age audience

  • Have the ability to explain concepts in multiple ways and to students with varying levels of experience

  • Incorporate an anti-racist lens into their work and are passionate about working at an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Support and enhance a sense of belonging for all students

  • Exhibit Proficiency in Google Suite, especially Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Slides, Google Sheets and Google Classroom

  • Have a reliable laptop/desktop with a webcam, working audio, and internet speeds that exceed the minimum requirements for hosting a Zoom meeting
