Specifics 

Raphah Institute is seeking a fund development professional to manage the organization's fund development program. This includes further developing our current grants and individual donor initiatives. In close partnership with the CEO, Communications and Outreach Director, Grant Writer, and Accountant, the Fund Development Manager will provide leadership on all fundraising initiatives, including special events, major gifts, planned giving, grants, individual donor cultivation, and sponsorships. A successful Fund Development Manager will identify, launch, cultivate, sustain, and evaluate Raphah Institute's fundraising activities, with a focus on increasing our capacity to sustain and expand our offerings to the communities we serve. The ideal Fund Development Manager will have a heart for restorative practices, anti-racism work, and fighting injustice, wherever it exists. They are willing to develop a deep understanding of the why, how, and what of the work we do and people we serve. They will appreciate the critical nature of their role in this movement.

Duties and Responsibilities

Planning

- Co-create and implement a comprehensive, written annual fund development plan, with strategies for donors and prospects in each funding market: individuals, foundations, corporations, affinity groups, and governments.

- Provide monthly reports to the CEO which measure progress towards achieving the plan.

- Support Raphah Institute's strategic planning efforts by advocating for the alignment of fund development strategies with corporate strategies.

- Maintain alignment between the fund development strategies and the communication and outreach strategies.

Gifts Cultivation

- Implement, coordinate, and expand upon strategies for individual gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship and donor relationship engagement.

- Implement a major gifts program.

- Expand Raphah Institute's funding streams in the areas of planned giving, bequests, and endowments.

- Implement all aspects of direct donor mailings and appeal letters.

- Maintain the donor database and use it for reporting

Events

- Manage and oversee all fund development events.

- Lead the planning, management and implementation of Raphah Institute's annual giving event.

- Develop and solicit sponsors for events as needed.

Grants Cultivation and Administration

- Research grant opportunities for the organization, in partnership with the CEO.

- Coordinate with the CEO, program leaders, and grant writer in developing grant proposals.

- Manage the grant application and reporting calendar on current and potential grants.

- Provide timely reporting and ensure compliance as required by grant award documentation.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in fund development with a non-profit, preferably one that operates with a social justice, and/or racial equity lens.

- Familiarity with justice issues.

- Competent in working with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Editing and proofreading skills.

- Experience cultivating relationships, partnering on projects, and working closely with stakeholders across a diverse spectrum.

- Experience with implementing and managing successful projects and growing them to scale.

- Strong problem-solving, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills across a range of tasks and stakeholders.

- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be a proactive team player.

- Willingness to travel occasionally.

- A well-developed, nuanced understanding of the experience of harm and oppression; well-developed analysis of power and supremacy.

- Flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Strong interpersonal skills coupled with high emotional intelligence.

Reasoning Ability

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

You must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance and have reliable transportation. Must live within a 45-minute travel time from the Nashville, Davidson County, TN service area.
