Position Summary

We are looking for a VP of Finance to join our team and implement financial and operational processes and systems as Higg Co continues to grow.  As a key member of the team, this person will be responsible for implementing, managing, and controlling all company accounting, consolidated reporting, budgeting and compliance activities. This includes direct responsibility for implementing best practices, overall internal controls and processes for external GAAP and management reporting.  The VP of Finance will have primary responsibility for processes that ensure compliance, accurate reporting and ultimately provide controls for managing costs. In addition, the VP of Finance will have oversight of people function (HR) and corporate infrastructure (insurance, facilities, etc).


  • Location: Higg Co is primarily a remote workforce. This position location is flexible.

Position Details

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Finance

    • Provide leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives 

    • Evaluate and advise Executive Leadership Team on a wide variety of long-range and immediate financial issues and opportunities 

    • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities

    • Oversee all aspects of the Accounting & Reporting functions of the organization

    • Work with team to ensure that month-end close process is timely and produces accurate monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements

    • Lead the fiscal year planning process to establish annual and long-range budgets and forecasting

    • Monitor compliance with all financial regulations and best practices and create and manage internal controls for effective financial policies and procedures

    • Review monthly cash forecast, identify trends and variances to projections. Plan and manage disbursement and collection activities to attain desired metrics.

    • Analyze general ledger trends and investigate variances

    • Analyze product margins and customer profitability

    • Increase AR collection speed and rates and manage customer risk

    • Support fundraising efforts

    • Develop and maintain banking relationships

    • Oversee and monitor effective tax strategies

    • Own overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance function, building out the department as needed for growth

  • People

    • Oversee all aspects of Human Resource function of the organization 

    • Work with team to manage key HR vendors and services to meet organizational needs from compliance to cost effectiveness

    • Facilitate selection and implementation of global HR vendor and services to meet organizational needs 

    • Support team in developing appropriate onboarding and training processes 

  • Corporate Infrastructure

    • Manage corporate IT support vendor and services to meet organizational needs

    • Oversee facility and remote support needs where required

    • Manage relationships with key vendors including insurance and others to ensure business compliance 



Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • CPA; CFA a plus, Big 4 experience preferred 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance management 

  • Experience leading the Finance function in a rapidly scaling organization through different stages of company lifecycle

  • Excellent and proven project management, analysis, and modeling skills

  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves and contribute directly

  • Ability to prioritize, develop and nurture effective communication and working relationships

  • Experience in working with various tax & business agencies

  • Ability to assess inefficiencies in processes or gaps in controls and seek to make improvements continually

  • Ability to delegate and to collaborate effectively throughout the organization

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fully, remote work environment

  • Passion for Higg Co mission and values a plus
