About the Organization 

Higg Co is a technology company that delivers, implements, and supports the Higg Index for consumer goods industries.  Developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the Higg Index is a suite of tools that enables brands, retailers, and facilities of all sizes — at every stage in their sustainability journey — to accurately measure and score a company or product’s sustainability performance. The Higg Index delivers a holistic overview that empowers businesses to make meaningful improvements that protect the well-being of factory workers, local communities, and the environment.  


About You

You're a visual and interactive designer who enjoys bringing clarity to complex concepts through modern design thinking. We're building out our end-to-end product team, so we'll need your strategic thinking and design skills at each stage of a project, from research to wireframes to visual design. You're a big-picture thinker and clear communicator who's able to work remotely, autonomously, and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.


What You'll Do All Day

  • Take product ideas from concept to build ready assets, employing sharp UX thinking, art direction, storytelling, documentation, and systems design

  • Collaborate with product managers to use design thinking and insights about our users to consistently deliver elegantly-simple solutions to the right problems

  • Work closely with developers to foster innovation and ensure feasibility and fidelity of final output while understanding where to make tradeoffs to achieve MVP

  • Embrace challenge and inspire new ways of thinking and approaching design problems

  • Clearly communicate vision, concepts, and mission of the design team at all levels and help provide context and clarity throughout the organization

  • Support efforts related to the Design System to better enable you to design and build products that you feel genuinely proud of

  • Assist with Marketing and Customer Support initiatives as bandwidth permits


We'd Like To See

  • 4+ years of demonstrated product design experience shipping exceptional work

  • A portfolio that reflects your strengths in both UX and visual design, with your role clearly defined on each project

  • Strong understanding of current industry tools like Figma and Sketch, with the ability to adapt to new technologies

  • Experience working on cross-disciplinary teams

  • Strong desire to stay ahead of desktop and mobile best practices, developments, and trends in design

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver compelling design rationale

  • Ability to translate complex information and user flows into elegant design solutions

  • Curiosity, humility, and passion

  • Business acumen, you can clearly connect design investments and business impact (clear understanding of the metrics in its context, the effect to customers and profit & loss)
