The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll drive the development and execution of comprehensive internal, external and B2B communications and engagement programs, working with key internal and external stakeholders of Higg Co, including the Sustainable Apparel Coalition. You will be responsible for identifying needs and delivering communications processes and solutions based on product and platform developments, Higg Co’s brand building and stakeholder relations priorities. This role will report to the VP Marketing & Communications and work closely with the Customer Success, Operations & Technology teams, as well key external partners and agencies.


This is a fully remote full-time position; working location is flexible, details below.


What You’ll Do

  • In partnership with the VP of Marketing and Communications, deliver on Higg Co’s Marketing & Communications strategies, goals and objectives.

  • Develop, execute and monitor effectiveness of communications plans and processes associated with Higg product and service launches, upgrades and changes, with a sharp focus on contributing to a seamless user experience for Higg Co customers.

  • Define key performance indicators for each communications channel which will indicate a campaign's level of success.

  • Proactively engage with partners inside and outside Higg Co to establish a forward view of communications opportunities and design processes and approaches to optimize engagement, deliver results and develop trust between teams.

  • Tell the Higg Co story through the development of compelling marketing and communications content, from press releases, talking points and white papers, to presentations, biz dev tools, web copy, social posts, blogs and more.

  • Represent the organization at events and press conferences.

  • Develop internal and B2B engagement mechanisms to gain insights that inform marketing and communications planning and content development.

  • Reach out to influencers, media and beyond in order to arrange story placement on a national and global level and manage external inquiries.

  • Manage agency interactions and deliverables, including web and social media activities.

  • Support the Executive team in developing value-adding internal communications and engagement opportunities and feedback mechanisms with and for Higg Co employees.

  • Develop a consistent evaluation process for inbound opportunities; lead evaluation and decision to pursue or not pursue all inbound opportunities.


A Successful Candidate is/has:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, as a minimum requirement.

  • 6+ years prior experience working in a communications role.

  • An experienced, self-motivated communications practitioner with proven success in building internal partnerships and leading cross-functional communications activities.

  • A generalist by nature, with demonstrated experience developing plans and content for multiple stakeholder audiences.

  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.

  • Proven success designing and executing marketing and communications strategies and campaigns.

  • Up to date on industry trends and able to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to think analytically and strategically.

  • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines.

  • Committed to sustainability as evidenced by your professional or life experience.

  • Enthusiastic about fast-paced environments and is comfortable navigating ambiguity in his or her role, can be scrappy when the need arises and is a committed team player.

  • Someone of mental grit and innate empathy: When the going gets tough, you bring a sense of levity and perspective to the table. You’re an empathetic human who values the same in others.


Additionally, Not Required but Ideal to Have:

  • Experience in a technology/SaaS organization working in a B2B environment within a fast-paced growing environment. 

  • Experience developing communications plans and campaigns in a start-up organization.

  • Familiarity with Asana, JIRA, MailChimp, SendGrid collaboration and communication tools. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to social and / or environmental improvement.

  • Prior experience in a team within a remote work environment is preferred.


Location Requirements

Higg Co’s headquarters are located in Berkeley, California. Location for this role is flexible, though ideally will allow for high degrees of collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team and the role’s wide range of internal and external partners based in the Pacific NorthWest (USA).


If in North America, preferred working location is in close proximity to a hub international airport, or if in Europe / Asia, preferred working location is within a city with or in close proximity to an international airport with non-stop flights to major North American and European destinations, i.e. SFO, JFK, LHR.
