About The Company

We believe in the power and importance of infrastructure. Every few decades a major inflection point in the world’s infrastructure progresses humanity forward. Vanderbilt and the railroads, Edison and the electrical grid, Eisenhower and the highways, and now Airspace Link’s low altitude digital infrastructure.

As a high growth venture-backed software and data startup based out of Detroit, offering Hybrid and fully Remote work options, we focus on creating a place where people of all different backgrounds can thrive as engineers, data scientists, creative thinkers, and passionate innovators. Our vision is to create a world where the safe integration of drones fuels human progress, advancing social equity, the environment, and the economy.

What's the Opportunity?

You will work with a team of highly skilled software developers, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) professionals, and data scientists to build large-scale processing pipelines that apply geospatial datasets and computing power towards complex applications in support of building a comprehensive data repository that enables governments and commercial clients to have the infrastructure to safely scale drones into the national airspace.

      • Work with massive and complex geospatial datasets in a scientifically robust manner focusing on data provenance, quality, traceability, and error propagation to generate geo-consistent Analysis Ready Datasets
      • Create and maintain Python packages for reusability and scalability of processing pipelines
      • Produce high quality code and advocate for coding standards with an emphasis on software craftsmanship
      • Sourcing FAA data, Department of Homeland Security data, telemetry data, weather data, government advisories data, to create a single interface for drone operators, governments, and industry
      • Build flexible models and features that contribute to Airspace Link’s data products and services
      • Implement scalable data-intensive processing pipelines that apply geospatial data to ML/DL models
      • Actively support the team in the design, implementation, and deployment of innovative and effective data solutions
      • Transition exploratory research into scalable processing pipelines for further development
      • Collaborate with engineering teams integrating geospatial platforms to implement models and algorithms at scale on production
      • Propose and execute new approaches to aggregating and analyzing the data that creates business efficiency, reportability, and metric quantification
      • Analyze, troubleshoot, and respond to data and system issues
      • Maintain information security within their area of the organization
      • Other responsibilities as assigned

What It Takes to Be Successful in the Role:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent level of experience
      • 5+ years of professional experience with big data modelling large and diverse datasets (vector, raster, point cloud) with the know-how to coax data diamonds out of the rough
      • Proficient and experienced in creating Python packages and one-off scripts for performing data cleaning, analysis, and modeling tasks
      • Experience working with geospatial data
      • Exposure to Azure Functions, database queries (SQL), serverless or microservice architectures, Databricks, and stream processing solutions
      • Comfortable working with REST API services, 3rd party APIs
      • Strong knowledge of software design patterns and unit testing
      • Experience in writing complex queries either in SQL, NoSQL and Big Query to perform ETL on datasets
      • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment
      • A positive self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively with broader teams
      • Experience understanding, processing, and munging geospatial data utilizing Esri’s ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, strongly preferred
      • Experience with project management tools, such as Monday.com
      • Part 107 or another pilot’s license a plus
