Airspace Link, Inc. is hiring a Frontend Web Developer to help build the tools used to manage local airspace, commercial drone logistics, and beyond visual line of sight operations. Yes, the jetsonian-future is finally upon us and we need help creating the future of unmanned aerial vehicles!
This is a position for an experienced developer, but you don't have to be a self-proclaimed rock star, a ninja, or a superhero to apply. Simply put, we're looking for someone with a strong track record putting front end code to work and bringing products to life (though frameworks pass like whispers in the wind). If you ship solid work, you have the experience we're looking for.
Airspace Link is headquartered out of Detroit, MI but understand that the best person for the job may live somewhere else. In short, the right remote candidates are considered though preference may be given to local candidates.

About The Job
As an emerging startup, our feature teams are small. You'll usually work with one designer and one or two other engineers on any given feature, and that's it. We work on a regular cadence of bi-weekly sprints within larger defined epics.
That's just a handful of people expected to regularly ship a big feature in a few weeks or small feature in just a week or two. This is a fast pace, but it's never frantic. We value a calm company and deliberate, concerted effort.
We are currently in a phase of greenfield work. There are no legacy apps to maintain. In fact, the entire industry is greenfield. Exciting! However, as our solutions mature, it's only natural that we'll develop a legacy that we'll need to cherish and support. As it stands, 'git blame' is only a few months old.
Some of the bullet points (of course, if you have to be told what the typical bullets are, you probably shouldn't apply):
- Develop new user-facing features/components (using TypeScript).
- Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use.
- Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code (without cutting visual corners).
- Optimizing components for maximum performance.
- Review code and follow security standards.
- Deploy code to release environments.
- Troubleshoot feature bugs as necessary.
- Work calmly and with intent.
No muss, no fuss. We want someone we can trust not to cut corners and deliver beautiful experiences.

Of course, as an experienced front-end developer, you are also familiar with both the “frameworks” and with the stables of full-stack web development: HTTP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, SQL. It's a bonus if you're familiar with other languages as well. We do a lot of regular work in Go & Python too, so you can earn some extra kudos with experience here.

We appreciate that it can be hard to share representative samples when you’ve been working on commercial software, so anything you can scrape together will be good. If you have open source contributions, those are great candidates, but you don’t have to be an open source contributor to apply.
