We are looking for a resourceful, driven, and detail-oriented Product Development Lead to join our growing team on our mission of becoming the #1 Probiotic Supplement Company in the US. This person will be responsible for all aspects of the technical product formulation and product development process from ideation through commercialization and will partner with our marketing team through the development process to ensure we have a consumer and brand led innovation strategy.
This position requires an innovative thinker with strong business acumen that has the ability to translate and apply their technical expertise to business opportunities. The ideal candidate will have experience in the probiotic space and must be strategic, detail-oriented, possess strong project management skills, and be a strong leader and collaborator with both internal and external partners.
What You’ll Do:
Provides technical leadership and execution on the formulation, scale-up, technical transfer, and process development of new and existing products.
Align product development and formulation work efforts around the brand and business’s strategic initiatives. Proactively engages the right resources in setting goals and delivering results.
Partner with marketing to help define the brand’s product promise and establish our brand formulation principles
Works cross functionally with our internal team and external partners to manage the timely execution of all product development initiatives.
Builds partnerships with suppliers and contract manufacturers to develop and commercialize products that meet all product critical attributes and timelines.
Identifies risks and champions opportunities for product optimization that improves consumer experience, delivers cost savings, and supports the company’s strategic objectives for new and commercialized products.
Identifies and champions new technologies, ingredients and processes that support continuous product improvement.
Develops internal product development capabilities and processes that drive efficiency and improves speed to market.
Effectively troubleshoots and solves complex formulation & technical challenges in collaboration with our development partners with speed and robustness.
In collaboration with Quality and Operations, ensure the sourcing and qualification of new raw materials, highlighting supply chain and cost implications as appropriate and collaborating with cross functional partners to resolve.
Keeps current with the probiotic and dietary supplement category, competition, formulation/processing technologies and nutritional ingredients trends and brings those insights into the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Requires a college degree in Food Science/Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition or a related science is required. Graduate degree a plus.
5-7 years of experience in dietary supplement, pharmaceutical and/or food product development. Probiotics experience is a plus!
Excellent track record of partnering with co-manufacturing sites for product development, scale up and commercialization.
Proven track record of leading product development from ideation to commercialization.
Proven technical project expertise in the development and process scale up of tablets, 2-piece hard capsules, soft gels, powders, gummies, liquids and other dosage forms.
Experience identifying project risk and development of strategies to mitigate them.
Capacity to maintain a high degree of organization across multiple projects.
Technically proficient and skilled at forging strong relationships with internal and external partners to assess risk and drive decisions.
Thorough understanding of GMP requirements and experience implementing standards and processes that ensure compliance with the FDA Part 111 for Dietary Supplements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all personality types and behaviors; flexibility
Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast paced environment
