We are looking for a driven, and detail-oriented Director of Regulatory and Compliance to join our growing team on our mission of becoming the #1 Probiotic Supplement Company in the US. This person will be responsible for regulatory compliance of all Physician’s Choice products. This individual will work closely with marketing and operations on all product claims and lead the review/approval of Supplement and Nutrition Facts Panels, Ingredient Statements, and other critical elements of the Information and Principle Display Panels.
The ideal candidate has 7+ years progressive regulatory and compliance experience in probiotics, nutritional supplement or other cGMP regulated industry. This is a full-time remote position reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer..
What You’ll Do:
Product Label Compliance - Support
Oversee review approval of all finished product labels and packaging design to ensure their compliance to applicable regulations including product description, product usage, supplements facts panels, ingredient declarations, value claims, and trademarks
Oversee review and approval of all Structure/Function Claims made on finished product labels and packaging to ensure compliance to applicable regulations
Oversee review and approval of packaging material label proofs provided by suppliers prior to production
Oversee review of package graphics for compliance and typos with all applicable regulatory requirements, domestic and international, (including product claims).
Product Claims - Support
Coordinate with New Product Development and raw material suppliers to obtain up-to-date research and studies to support and enhance existing product Structure/Function claims, marketing, and advertising.
Coordinate with New Product Development, Supply Chain, co-manufacturers, and raw material suppliers to confirm accuracy and compliance of product value and identity claims
Marketing and Advertising Compliance - Partner with Marketing team to provide guidance on compliance and claims
Provide compliance guidance, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, Food Service or related field; or an equivalent combination of four to six years related experience and/or education/training are sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job.
5+ years progressive Regulatory experience in a cGMP or regulated manufacturing industry preferred.
Experience following Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 Parts 100-199 and has extensive knowledge of the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act (DSHEA)/Nutrition Labeling and Education Act (NLEA) Labeling Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 Part 101 and the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) Regulations.
Technical writing experience in a compliance environment or a scientific environment such as microbiology, food science, chemistry, or biochemistry is preferred.
Advanced Excel and Google Suites capabilities preferred.
Experience working in a start-up environment is a plus.
