JOB SUMMARY:

The Compliance Manager will be responsible for regulatory compliance of all Physician’s Choice products and for providing guidance pertaining to the identity, strength, purity, composition and limits on contaminants for  products. This individual is responsible for the review of supplier technical and packaging documentation to ensure certain claims (non-structure function claims and absence claims) made in labeling are substantiated for new and existing Physician’s Choice branded products. This individual is responsible for review and approval of Supplement and Nutrition Facts Panels, Ingredient Statements and other critical elements of the Information and Principle Display Panels. This individual will be responsible for working closely with Physician’s Choice internal and external stakeholders including but not limited Marketing, Brand Management, Quality, 3rd Party Suppliers, Raw Material Suppliers, Regulatory Agencies, Trade Associations and standard-setting organizations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Examines establishment policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Review package graphics for compliance and typos with all applicable regulatory requirements, domestic and international, (including product claims). 

  • Coordinates with legal counsel and operating departments to ensure adherence to laws and regulations relating to new or revised products and services offerings.

  • Help reduce the company's exposure to litigation.

  • Manage all communications for all litigations relevant to regulatory affairs. 

  • Stays abreast of changes to federal and state laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the establishment. 

  • Oversees the revision, preparation, and dissemination of new and updated compliance standards and procedures.  

  • Coordinates, supervises, and supports establishment's compliance-related programs, such as compliance training, compliance testing and reporting, disaster recovery, contingency planning, and records warehousing and destruction.  

  • Informs and advises management of conditions and status of establishment adherence to laws and regulations.  

  • Consults with and advises operating units and managers affected by compliance issues and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to write and review audit  documentation, SOPs, and work instructions.

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, Food Service or related field; or an equivalent combination of four to six years related experience and/or education/training sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job.

  • 3+ years progressive Quality or Product Development experience in a cGMP or regulated manufacturing industry preferred.

  • Experience following Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 Parts 100-199 and has extensive knowledge of the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act (DSHEA)/Nutrition Labeling and Education Act(NLEA) Labeling Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 Part 101 and the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA) Regulations. 

  • Technical writing experience in a compliance environment or a scientific environment such as microbiology, food science, chemistry or biochemistry preferred.

  • Advanced Excel and Google Suites capabilities preferred.

  • Experience working in a startup environment is a plus.
