JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a talented content editor to help generate engaging and original content for our health and wellness e-commerce blog as well as a short copy writer to help drive additional marketing initiatives. 

Editors should have a background in, or a passion for, health, wellness and supplements. Editors should be able to conduct in-depth research and be able to understand article topics in detail. 

In this role, you will be focused on ensuring that all content generated is interesting, high-quality and tailored to our readership. This individual will bring to the team creativity, adaptability, and an eye for analytics with excellent writing skills and has the ability to capture and hone our brand voice. This individual will be asked to review articles and fact-check content based on relevant and approved source links. 

Article lengths will range from 500 to 2,000+ words depending on topic. We are looking for someone who can edit and review 10-20 blog articles per week. A topic queue will be provided, which will include targeted keywords as well as potential sources for data and statistics. Guidelines surrounding brand voice, article expectations and SEO goals will be provided. 

In addition to the editing part of this role, the candidate will be asked to provide short copy content for various online and print marketing materials. The candidate may be asked to parse down long form content to develop this content or be asked to create it themselves. 

The copywriting portion of this role is responsible for taking a marketing brief and generating original copy ideas that are attention grabbing to our target audience. This can include creating slogans, body copy, and scripts. Accuracy is essential. The copywriter is accountable for checking all the content being advertised is truthful and compliant with various mediums. 

ESSENTIAL EDITOR FUNCTIONS (70%):

  • Proofread, restructure and edit articles provided by content writers

  • Generating, researching, and pitching ideas for posts

  • Update our blog pages with new content

  • Optimize published pieces using SEO guidelines provided by company

  • Craft and send out monthly newsletter

  • Interview industry professionals and use online sources to research topics

  • Optimize published pieces using SEO guidelines

  • Manage the editorial calendar and ensure timely publication

  • Monitor web traffic and user engagement

  • Staying current on industry trends for possible opportunities to attract new readers or create stronger, more engaging content

  • For Professional editors, we may inquire about helping us:

    • Publish and promote content (e.g. Promoting new posts using emails, social media, and other methods to alert and attract new readers)

  • Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL COPYWRITING FUNCTIONS (30%):

  • Tag lines, short copy, examples of previous work around short copy.

  • Taking abstract content and creating advertisements, marketing materials.

    • Writing headings and short body copy.

  • Liaises with clients and colleagues and collaborates with other departments and project teams to consider writing requirements and create innovative content ideas.

  • Updates and amends written content according to feedback.

  • Researches competitors and stays on top of market trends and analyzes content marketing metrics and makes changes as needed.

  • Manages and promotes company blogs and pitches articles to relevant third-party platforms.

  • Aids the Social Media Manager with the implementation and maintenance of the organization's social media presence.

  • Copy for enhanced brand content on the product page, along with banners attached to the page.

  • Develop and generate clear and concise content that is used across various media outlets and platforms.

  • Write and produce clear copy based on strategy, concept/idea, target audience, brand guidelines, and product features and benefits; create persuasive messages and tell compelling stories that drive first time purchase and generate brand loyalty in consumers.

  • Partners with the design team to ensure copy is correctly flowed into design and finds integrated visual/copy solutions.

  • Write, manage, edit, and upload product-related copy across multiple channels, including product titles, descriptions, Enhanced Brand Content (EBC-Amazon), product banners, and additional product details.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • The editor will oversee the content writing calendar to ensure articles are being posted on time.

  • The editor will be responsible for providing timely feedback to writers on each article based on the editor’s article rubric.

  • Editors are responsible for keeping track of cumulative scores for writers to aid in feedback.

  • The editor will review writer invoices and confirm articles are eligible for payment.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Ability to research and describe clinical benefits of nutritional supplement ingredients.

  • Comfort with breaking down and explaining the benefits of each product.

  • Medical/Research writing background preferred.

  • Familiarity with Nutritional Supplements.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
