As a Technical Artist, you will blend the worlds of art, and engineering together to create pathways and methods for the creation of compelling visuals while maintaining high framerates.  Evaluate new technologies to build out the art pipeline layer by layer.  Ensure assets are optimized and performant.  Collaborate with the team to deliver the artistic vision communicated by the Art Director, and the technical art direction communicated by the Technical Art Director.  Challenge the possibilities to achieve the highest possible visual quality.


Responsibilities

•  Contribute to the development and tuning of the studio art pipeline

•  Develop tools for artists that streamline art creation and output

•  Create necessary art assets to research and prototype features (modeling, texturing, skinning, material creation, etc)

•  Evaluate new technologies, tools, and techniques

•  Collaborate with Technical Art Director to ensure technical solutions are well planned, structured, executed on, and documented

•  Optimize art assets


Qualifications

•  5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist or similar role

•  4 years of development experience in UE4 or similar proprietary studio engines

•  Strong understanding of real-time development processes and limitations

•  Skilled Generalist with a thirst for tackling technical problems

•  Expertise in Maya, UE4, Substance Painter and Photoshop

•  Python / Mel

•  Ability to learn and use new software and techniques effectively, in a timely manner

•  Proficient in optimizing art assets

•  Proficient in blueprints in UE4

•  Familiar with current art techniques and workflows

•  Expert knowledge of at least one discipline: modeling, texturing, complex material creation, UI, rigging, or real-time visual effects

•  Great interpersonal, oral, documentation, and written skills

•  Interest in future technologies
