PHSU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE 


PHSU St. Louis opened the new School of Medicine in Fall 2022 as part of a multi-million educational investment in downtown St. Louis. 


With the expansion of our medical program in St. Louis, we put action behind our vision of providing real education and research opportunities in a community dedicated to addressing and impacting health disparities on local and national levels. PHSU is thrilled to continue our mission to give more students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds access to high-quality medical education and careers. PHSU St. Louis also currently offers a PsyD and one-year Masters in Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program.


ABOUT THE ROLE


The Associate Director position is part of Enrollment Management Team reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Success. This role focuses on helping PHSU- St. Louis meet its goals of enrolling a talented and diverse student body in the health sciences field. The Associate Director is the lead admission officer responsible for developing, implementing, and analyzing, in conjunction with the Dean, PHSU’s strategic domestic and international recruitment plans.  


The Associate Director is responsible for initiating and fulfilling new ideas and supervising staff members to implement plans and programs. The role directly supervises staff members in their work to meet University goals and is responsible for the performance of assigned staff. This position also guides and indirectly manages staff members working on projects related to the Associate Director’s areas. 


Duties include leading, managing, organizing, and staffing recruitment events and programs; interviewing students; reviewing and evaluating applicants to present to the Admissions Committee to render admission decisions; and developing and maintaining relationships with Faculty, Staff, Financial Aid, Student Success at all PHSU campuses as needed. This position represents the PHSU- St. Louis campus internally and externally. 
 
Strong professional judgment, initiative, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset are essential. 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the lead admissions officer in developing, implementing, and analyzing the PHSU graduate recruitment strategy. 
  • Manage recruitment events and interactions with students, parents, and counselors at college fairs, panels, and other college recruitment activities. 
  • Supervise assigned staff, including providing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluation. 
  • Provide management and oversight for staff members’ work performance, including routine work, special projects and programs, and compliance with office and University procedures. 
  • Conduct programmatic information sessions about the University and Admissions for prospective students and families. 
  • Provide customer service by answering phone calls and emails from prospective students and parents in a timely manner and interviewing prospective students who visit campus. 
  • Must be able analyze data to implement action plans and make strategic recommendations to management. 
  • Work closely with community organizations to develop strong relationships for the University. 
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge about PHSU and admissions is critical. 
  • Responsible for interfacing with Academics, Marketing and Student Success leadership and management teams to ensure recruitment strategy aligns with campus and institutional enrollment goals. 
  • Work in conjunction with marketing and communication to develop Admissions communications. 
  • Must have the ability to work independently following admissions guidelines. 
  • Privy to sensitive strategic information. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Ability to supervise others to manage projects and accomplish goals. 
  • Prior experience developing, implementing, and measuring strategies and programs. 
  • Previous presentation experience 
  • Knowledge of higher education and issues related to recruitment, admissions, and enrollment. 
  • Knowledge of graduate admissions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to interpret data as well as ability to see the “big picture." 
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including cross- cultural sensitivity 
  • Able to apply University and office policies to varying situations and make recommendations on how to solve problems. 
  • Excellent judgment when dealing with projects or communicating with prospective students and families. 
  • Ability to work outside of standard university work hours. 
  • Strong command of technology including Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and data analysis tools. 


Required Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. 
    • Four years of relevant work experience.
