PHSU is recognized in Puerto Rico and abroad for its excellence in education service and research achievements. PHSU is focused on the disciplines of Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Biomedical Sciences and Public Health. The university has continued a nearly 40-year tradition of enhancing the medical profession by providing the highest quality graduate medical education programs available. The St. Louis Campus was established in 2018, with the mindset of continuing those services in St. Louis and the surrounding communities.

The mission of Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) is to provide a world-class, culturally-competent, health sciences education to the population we serve, through innovative adaptive learning environments focused on the success of its students to become ethical practitioners and scientists.

The PHSU vision is to build on its reputation as a prestigious academic and research leader educating underrepresented diverse populations while focusing research efforts on solving global health disparities.

We are seeking a Director of Clinical Psychology to lead the PsyD degree program, oversee faculty, collaborate with existing and develop new clinical relationships, and ensure alignment of curriculum and standards with the main campus.  The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities best aligned to PHSU philosophy, business acumen to develop a competitive PsyD program, and have an entrepreneurial and creative spirit to ensure accreditation of the program within 2 years.

The PsyD program immerses students in a science-based, five-year curriculum that focuses on the application of psychological science to problems that students will face in real-world settings. The purpose of our Doctorate in Clinical Psychology program is to educate and train a new generation of health practitioners to be better prepared to take on the challenges of ever-evolving cultural and technological environments. It provides an outstanding pathway for acquiring the skills needed for becoming effective, culturally sensitive providers of direct psychological services.

Once accredited, The PsyD program will be the only local PsyD program in the region and the only accredited PsyD program in the state. Attaining this distinction is an opportunity for the Director to help develop and achieve that accomplishment and help PHSU continue to grow its St. Louis Campus as envisioned.
