The Associate/Assistant Professor position is a full-time faculty position that reports to the Dean of Nursing at Ponce Health Sciences University in St. Louis, MO. Non-tenure track faculty are expected to teach at the College of Nursing in area(s) of expertise, provide service to the school of nursing, Ponce-Health Science University, the St. Louis community, and profession of nursing congruent with the mission of the nursing program. Each faculty member is required to maintain established appointment rank, according to appointment and promotion criteria, and the three pillars of nursing education: teaching, scholarship, and service.
Responsibilities:
Full-time faculty are required to teach thirty (30) credits in a twelve (12) month period, averaging ten (10) credits/trimester. In addition, faculty are required to complete eight (8) hours of student mentorship per trimester, assist with student advising, and participate in faculty governance and committee work. Faculty must maintain an on-campus presence for student support and faculty engagement. A flexible work-life balance is an important part of the culture at the School of Nursing. The ability to work remotely is negotiated with the Dean of nursing on an individual basis.
Teaching:
- Provides instruction in content area of expertise, employing evidence-based teaching and learning methods of instruction (classroom, clinical, laboratory, simulation)
- Participate in curriculum and programmatic evaluation and revision to align with program outcomes and professional standards of best practice (AACN, ANA, QSEN, NCLEX-RN)
- Collaborates with academic leadership and clinical coordinator to provide input into selection and evaluation clinical sites for students.
- Participates in the development of academic policies affecting admission, retention, and graduation.
- Maintain open office hours, on campus, to support students.
Service:
- Provide service to the college by participating in faculty council, faculty committees, task forces, and all-college committees.
- Assists with faculty onboarding and serves as a mentor to new/junior faculty.
- Participates in community and professional activities as appropriate.
Scholarship:
- Participate in scholarly projects that align with research interest and contribute to the mission and vision of the school.
- Maintains an active program of scholarship that advances the work of the college; presents scholarly work (local, regional, nationally).
Qualifications
Required:
- A graduate degree in nursing.
- Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Missouri (a compact state)
- Three or more years of experience as a registered professional nurse.
- Evidence of previous teaching experience.
- Effective interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
- CPR certification.
Preferred:
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field
