About the Position

At Cabaletta we are applying our Cabaletta Approach to B cell Ablation (CABA) to develop T cell therapies to transform the lives of patients with autoimmune diseases. Reporting to the Head of Lab Operations, the Associate Laboratory Manager will support the operations, leadership, direction, and administration of our growing laboratory space, including a longer-term opportunity with new lab build out. The role will offer opportunities to work and cultivate skills within the cellular, molecular, and biochemical arenas, as well as inventory management and waste disposal/safety procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with Lab Ops team, lead activities for cell line maintenance, culturing, and day to day passaging of cells.
  • Daily upkeep of laboratory space, including but not limited to, cleaning and restocking of supplies, biological waste disposal, and preparation of media, buffers, and solutions.
    • Equipment monitoring including software dashboard, yearly calibration, and cleaning across multiple teams and lab spaces.
    • Compressed gas tank movement and change out. Must be capable of pushing 230-Liter LN2 tank on wheels.
  • Support inventory management and purchasing activities by maintaining organizational oversight of laboratory supplies and restocking processes.
    • Including inputting items into inventory management and weekly checks.
    • Maintain variety of documentation across lab ops e.g. IOPQs, PMs, COA/COC, cleaning logs, calibrations
  • Collaborate with broader research teams across Cellular Molecular Immunology, Preclinical Molecular Biology, and Process Development to support as needed.
  • Monitor all lab spaces working with departments to ensure proper resources, safe working conditions/practices, and overall quality compliance.
  • Assist in onboarding new lab personnel and overall lab space development or growth.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory guidelines and standard operating procedures consistent with GXP requirements.
  • Coordinate lab access with external personnel e.g. vendors, field service engineers, and building management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, and engineering.
  • 1-2 years academic or industrial experience maintaining cell lines and performing mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience preparing laboratory reagents for experimental use.
  • Must be able to lift ~40lb onto a cart and ~10lb over your head.
  • Foundational understanding of laboratory equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work independently.
  • Proactive attitude and helpful mindset.
  • Strong team orientation and passion for continuous self-development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with sample/inventory tracking and management.
  • Experience with LIMS or ELN
  • Foundational knowledge of GDP, GLP
  • A high level of flexibility to support various other activities; the ability to learn new techniques outside of existing field of expertise.
  • Zero to two plus years of lab operations experience within industrial or academic settings
  • Experience with bacterial cell culture, molecular or biochemical assays (PCR, ELISA) and protein purification.
