McKay Brothers, LLC, seeks an experienced accountant with Financial Planning & Analysis and general accounting experience to work at the Company’s US headquarters in Oakland, CA.  

The position reports to the Company’s Director of Finance and entails no current supervisory responsibilities.  The ideal candidate will have experience working at an early stage company, with international operations, who desires to be hands on and take responsibility. The ideal candidate will have experience with forecasting, the ability to interface professionally with senior leadership, and communication skills to clearly articulate financial analysis to data-driven scientists.   

Competitive salary and benefits are offered commensurate with experience.  This full-time position is available immediately.  Applicants must be available to work on site in Oakland 3-5 days a week when office activity resumes in compliance with all measures and CDC guidance. This role is not eligible for relocation reimbursement.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

A key responsibility in this role will be to take on FP & A projects without major instruction from management. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following and others as assigned: 

 

FP&A responsibilities:

  • Create, update, and maintain financial models and detailed forecasts of the company’s future operations
  • Gauge the Company’s financial health using key financial ratios such as the debt to equity ratio, current ratio, and interest coverage ratio
  • Prepare internal reports for executive leadership and supporting their decision making

General accounting responsibilities:

  • Maintain and communicate accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure financial  reports are US GAAP compliant
  • Ensure the integrity of the financial results
  • Key member of the global accounting team driving continuous improvements 
  • Support the company tax accounting and annual audit as required
  • Special projects

 

Fixed asset accounting responsibilities:

  • Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger
  • Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation

Experience and skills:


  • University degree in accounting
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience with the last year in a similar role
  • Productivity Tool Experience - Microsoft Office and ERP Accounting Software  (Odoo)
  • Fluency in French is a plus
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced business environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
