Job Summary:

 

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Manufacturing Team as a Manufacturing Intern! The intern will gain hands-on experience in enzyme production, purification, quality evaluation, and process scale-up in a collaborative R&D and manufacturing environment.

 

In this role, you will work closely with scientists and manufacturing team members to assist with upstream and downstream workflows, process documentation, data analysis, and routine laboratory operations.

 

The ideal candidate should be a hard worker and self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about protein production and process development. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and have basic knowledge in microbial fermentation and protein biochemistry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with enzyme production processes, including media preparation, fermentation support, and sample collection and clean up.
  • Support downstream processing activities such as clarification, purification, concentration, filtration etc.
  • Perform routine laboratory experiments to support process development and manufacturing optimization.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and solutions required for enzyme production and testing.
  • Conduct and assist with enzyme activity assays and other analytical methods to evaluate product performance and quality.
  • Record, organize, and analyze experimental and production data accurately.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, batch records, and process observations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting process issues related to yield, reproducibility, and product quality.
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines and company SOPs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory and manufacturing workspace.
  • Present progress updates and findings to the team as needed.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Basic laboratory knowledge in protein expression, purification, enzymology, or molecular biology preferred.
  • Familiarity with common biochemical techniques such as fermentation, protein purification, pipetting, cell culture media or buffer preparation is a plus.
  • Experience with large volume fermentation and buffer preparation/manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Good analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20.00 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
