Job Summary:
Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our R&D team as an emerging Technologies Intern! This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in designing and developing next-generation protein detection technologies that will fundamentally impact future advances in both basic research and clinical diagnostics. This is a highly interdisciplinary position where you will be working at the intersection of molecular biology, chemistry and engineering.
In this role, you will actively participate in the entire scientific research process of generating new ideas, testing and troubleshooting new systems, analyzing and interpreting results, and presenting your research findings. You will work closely with a senior team member who will provide support and guidance in meeting our research objectives.
The ideal candidate is a creative scientist who is excited to delve into unfamiliar fields, explore new ideas and question the status quo. The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented and analytical, with a strong emphasis on the quality and depth of their work.

This position is a part-time summer internship (maximum of 29 hours per week).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively participate in generating new ideas/designs and formulating research strategies.
- Perform experiments to develop and evaluate new systems and technologies.
- Analyze results, troubleshoot experiments and determine next steps.
- Communicate scientific discoveries to the wider R&D community at Zymo Research.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Bioengineering or related fields, or individuals currently pursuing those degrees.
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new fields.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Prior experience with molecular biology techniques is preferred.

Compensation:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20.00 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
