DuBois Integrity Academy (DIA) is hiring Substitute Teachers for the 2024-2025 academic school year. DuBois Integrity STEM Academy’s academic program has two pillars that support substantial achievement improvement: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) combined with Blended Learning. We use theme-based, interdisciplinary, integrated curricula to facilitate instruction and learning. A combination of tightly-controlled behavioral studies and groundbreaking neurological research supports theme-based education as a means to improve the opportunities for success for all learners.
The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for managing the classroom environment and ensuring the continuity of education in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role is essential for maintaining the quality of instruction and supporting our students’ academic progress. Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Management:
- Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment.
- Follow the classroom management plan as established by the regular teacher.
- Address and report any behavioral issues according to school policies.
- Instruction:
- Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.
- Facilitate various learning activities to engage students in the lesson.
- Adjust teaching methods to fit the needs of individual students.
- Student Support:
- Provide additional support to students who need extra help.
- Encourage and motivate students to participate actively in learning activities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback as necessary.
- Professionalism:
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Uphold and enforce school policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration.
- Record Keeping:
- Take attendance and record any absences or tardiness.
- Collect and grade assignments as directed by the regular teacher.
- Leave detailed notes for the regular teacher about the day’s events and any important information.
- Experience:
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience. (preferred but not required)
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting. (preferred but not required)
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
- Basic proficiency in using educational technology and software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry educational materials and equipment as needed.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require working in various classrooms and subjects.
- Substitute teachers must be available on short notice.
