DuBois Integrity Academy (DIA) is hiring a K-5 Media Specialist for the 2024-2025 academic school year. DuBois Integrity STEM Academy’s academic program has two pillars that support substantial achievement improvement:  STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) combined with Blended Learning.  We use theme-based, interdisciplinary, integrated curricula to facilitate instruction and learning.   A combination of tightly-controlled behavioral studies and groundbreaking neurological research supports theme-based education as a means to improve the opportunities for success for all learners. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Media Specialist works as a collaborator, change agent, and leader to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information; to instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information; and to collaborate with teachers to design and implement instruction, and assess student learning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors or Masters degree Library Science advanced degree in Instructional Technology and/or Education required
  • T4 or higher in a teaching field in addition to Media Specialist certification or in Instructional Technology
  •  Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities: ability to lift items up to a weight of 50 pounds without assistance

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Experience designing internally and externally facing websites required
  • Classroom teaching experience and/or media specialist experience preferred
  • Experience with Silverlight, AJAX and/or HTML5 is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library media program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication.
  • Understand and operate within PM principles.
  • Skilled in designing internal and external user interfaces that support device independent concepts and ideas including tablet and mobile technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Creates an environment where collaboration and creative problem solving thrive.
  • Serves as an essential member of the instructional and leadership teams to bring an ongoing commitment to the changing K-5 curriculum, innovative teaching, and staying current on best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment, and embracing and understanding the dynamic role that the integration of technology contributes to student learning.
  • Works with teachers and administrators to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources.
  • Evaluates, promotes, and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school resources, connect the school with the global learning community, communicate with students and teachers.
  • Assists students in becoming critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
  • Arranges for flexible scheduling of the school library media center to provide student accessibility to staff and resources at point of need.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
