DuBois Integrity Academy (DIA) is hiring a Band Director for the 2024-2025 school year. DIA STEM Academy's academic program has two pillars that support substantial achievement improvement: STEM (STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) combined with Blended Learning. We use theme-based interdisciplinary, integrated curricula to facilitate instruction and learning.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Band Director will provide an effective instrumental music education to students; duties include all aspects of the band organization, auditions, programming, and rehearsing all music for performances.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Educator’s Certificate in K-12 Music
  • Applicants must have successful work experiences in a middle school band program, be knowledgeable, and possess organizational and leadership skills to develop all aspects of the band program.
  • Successful work experience as a Middle School Band Director is preferred.
  •  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  •  One (1) year teaching experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate for this position will:

  • Communicate with the student body and encourage participation in the band activities.
  • Plan, rehearse and direct musical experiences for the school
    with some scheduled performances per school year.
  • Oversee scheduling and other arrangements for the rehearsals and concerts.
  • Plans and coordinates a comprehensive middle school band program.
  • Meets expectations according to the regular middle school teacher job description.
  • Presents concerts or programs as directed by the instructional needs of the students and the valid expectations of the community.
  • Prepares or obtains music and drill charts for band prior to beginning of rehearsals
  • Accompanies and is responsible for the band’s performance at approved civic functions such as parades, dedications, and other ceremonies.
  • Encourages and assists students in ensembles, solos, and preparation for auditions.
  • Works with other teachers to plan special activities, share ideas and resources, and ensure a quality feeder system for the school band program.
  • Develops and maintains good public relations.
  • Performs other duties and tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
