Persevere is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering justice-involved individuals through innovative workforce development and career preparation support services that give real access to quality employment in the technology industry. Specifically, Persevere provides technology training, career readiness instruction and support, wraparound case management, individualized job-based mentoring, and job placement services for justice-impacted individuals and people who are at risk for justice-involvement.
Founded by and for people with lived experience with criminal justice, corrections, and poverty, Persevere understands the needs of the justice-impacted population as few organizations can, and our work embodies our commitment to reducing racial inequalities throughout all aspects of society and eliminating disproportionate minority contact and disproportionate minority confinement within the criminal justice system. As we have grown and expanded, we have focused on developing and executing strategies that continue to expand our mission of reducing racial disparities and inequalities, both as part of our work, and as well, our organization's practices regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

As part of our commitment to DEI, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced DEI Consultant to join our team and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to foster an inclusive and diverse work environment, and lead the development and implementation of comprehensive racial equity strategies and initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties

Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive racial equity strategies and initiatives to foster a more inclusive workplace.

Act as a project manager for our racial equity implementation plan, overseeing its execution, providing feedback, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Develop and deliver DEI training sessions, workshops, and resources customized to our organization's requirements including but not limited to inclusive leadership, conscious and unconscious bias, cultural competency, and allyship. We'll identify, leverage, and utilize DEI tools and training content, working closely with the Persevere team and other partners to ensure alignment and effectiveness.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess current practices, policies, and systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.

Provide guidance and support to leadership and staff on how to effectively implement DEI principles in their day-to-day work and decision-making processes.

Serve as a resource and thought leader on DEI-related matters, staying informed of best practices and emerging trends in the field.

Facilitate discussions and initiatives to promote dialogue, understanding, and action around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and recommend adjustments to DEI strategies and programs as needed to ensure continuous improvement.

Take an active role in planning and supporting DEI events, both internal and external, in collaboration with community partners.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., sociology, psychology, organizational development) required; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of experience working in diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on racial equity and cultural competence.

Proven track record of developing and implementing DEI initiatives in a corporate or organizational setting.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results.

Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.

Deep understanding of DEI principles, concepts, and best practices.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in the field of DEI.

Proficiency in creating, analyzing, and reporting on DEI metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of initiatives long with experience creating and utilizing DEI scorecards + dashboards.

Experience in crafting and revising organizational policies to ensure inclusivity and equity.

Proven track record in designing and delivering DEI training sessions, workshops, and facilitating discussions on related topics.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with executive leadership to integrate DEI into overall business strategy.

Utilizing surveys and feedback mechanisms to assess the DEI climate within the organization and implementing improvements based on insights.
