Job Overview

As a Curriculum Engineer, you will be a technical expert with strong writing skills, responsible for creating student-centered products to support our web development program. Working with our Education Department and our instructional staff, you will ensure that the program content is highly instructive, engaging, and teachable while resulting in expected learning outcomes for students. You will also work closely with Instructional staff to train them on how to deliver new materials, content, and technologies. The ideal candidate for this role has created or taught a technical curriculum for adult learners, focusing on web development topics ranging from React and Node.js to SQL and NoSQL.  This is a remote,  full-time, salaried position with excellent benefits. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Stay current with technology trends and incorporate these trends into the curriculum through research and evaluation. 

  • Write curriculum content in various mediums (video scripts, text, code blocks, full-stack applications, image ideas, etc.) and delivery types (online, in-person, hybrid). 

  • Ensure that all content is instructive, engaging, and teachable. 

  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure course content is accurate and up-to-date. 

  • Manage, guide, and lead Jr Engineers and Interns on task management & delegation, formation of internal best practices & quality assurance testing, and professional development. 

  • Actively communicate & collaborate with relevant parties to iterate and improve curriculum based on internal feedback and keep interested parties in sync on progress and timeline. 

  • Develop an internal curriculum ticketing system to manage and delegate responsibility/timeline. 

  • Develop and lead training that informs instructional staff on the delivery of classroom materials, content, and technologies. 

  • Monitor and resolve reported issues with curriculum content by instructional staff.

  • Participate in cross training staff as requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry experience in MERN stack development or related technologies 

  • Proficiency in front-end web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React 

  • Proficiency in back-end web development technologies such as Node.js, MongoDB, and SQL 

  • Experience in instructional design and curriculum development 

  • Proven track record of continuous learning in a broad range of areas (examples of tutorials or articles you've written are a plus) 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

  • Passion for education and helping others learn
