Job Overview

The Tech Alliance Support Specialist works at the Claiborne County Courthouse, providing security during the Claiborne County Jail coding class at this remote room site. In addition, this position will have specific duties assigned related to student success. This is a full-time, exempt position with excellent benefits. 


Job Responsibilities


  1. Participate in training to receive the TCI Certification as required by the Claiborne County Jail.

  2. Participate in Persevere training as directed by HR and the Instructor Assistant.

  3. Provide security for the third floor of the Claiborne County Courthouse during Persevere Coding Class, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm EST.

  4. The Specialist will clear the third floor then perform a walk through of the drop off area, stairwell, and third floor both before and after class each day. Arrival time is 7:00 am EST. 

  5. The Specialist will help Instructor Assistant escort participants to and from the room. 

  6. The Specialist will have an office near the elevator and is responsible for limiting access to the third floor during class hours. In addition, the Specialist will provide frequent walks from the designated office to the room to ensure the students and Instructor Assistant are participating in a safe room environment. Schedule will be determined by the Instructor Assistant.

  7. The Specialist will manage the student restroom and lunch breaks at the direction of the Instructor Assistant.

  8. The Specialist and Instructor Assistant will coordinate days off to ensure class schedule can be met with minimum disruption. The Specialist and Assistant will collaborate to recruit a volunteer(s) who can be trained to cover either the room or security during vacations or unexpected sick days in order to minimize the disruption of class time. 

  9. Coordinate Career Readiness Instruction for students during the Jail Class and after release. Maintain records of module completion and assist as needed with resume development.

  10. Maintain a professional working relationship with the Persevere Team serving participants including the room Instructor, Teacher Assistant, Case Manager, Mental Health Counselor, and Technology Employment Specialist in order to best serve program participants.

  11. Coordinate introduction of Technology Employment Specialist to students upon program completion.

  12. Maintain a record of updated contact information for students who are nearing their release date.


Qualifications

  • Some correctional experience preferred 

  • Strong communication skills

  • Must be motivated to work with justice-involved program participants

  • Willing to perform basic  upkeep

  • Able to walk stairs and arrange room furniture

  • Self motivated and willing to take initiative
