Persevere is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering justice-involved individuals through innovative workforce development and career preparation support services that give real access to quality employment in the technology industry. Specifically, Persevere provides technology training, career readiness instruction and support, wraparound case management, individualized job-based mentoring, and job placement services for justice-impacted individuals and people who are at risk for justice-involvement.

Job Overview

At Persevere, the Communications Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of internal and external communications for the organization. This individual will be an enthusiastic self-starter who contributes to organizational growth through the execution of an annual communications and marketing plan. The Communications Coordinator will also act as the liaison for our PR and Marketing agency partners.  This is a fast-paced environment with many moving pieces. Excellent project management and organization skills are required to be set up for success.  


This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.  This is a 100% remote position with some travel to local events possible.  The qualified candidate will be able to successfully pass a reference check, background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work alongside our PR agency to develop and execute an annual marketing plan, which includes but is not limited to e-mail marketing strategies, SEO, social media, earned media, thought leadership and paid media

  • Coordinate or write news releases for television and news media outlets when for all relevant organizational events

  • Coordinator or write national articles on employers hiring graduates and the impact of second chance programs

  • Coordinate internal announcements and communications and funnel information to the correct people to update the website and social media

  • Lead internal communications with monthly blog posts

  • Handle communications coordination and project management for outside agency partners and serve as point-of-contact and route communications as necessary

  • Collaborate with Public Relations partners and internal stakeholders on regular social media posts

  • Collaborate with the marketing and design to uphold consistency of brand management

  • Represent the company at various industry events

  • Represent Persevere with outside program partners when we are gathering information for press releases 

  • Manage overall communications budget, reporting regularly to leadership on spends and ROI

  • Support donor relations as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant business experience

  • 4+  years of communications or marketing experience

  • Proven results of exceeding  KPIs from past roles

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and  writing skills with proven samples

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving, dynamic, and team-oriented environment

  • Enthusiasm for Persevere’s mission and our work

  • Service-focused and proactive approach

  • Ability to learn fast with an inquisitive mind and eye for detail

  • Performance under pressure with an acute sense of urgency

  • Problem solving skills and a high aptitude for creative thinking and sound judgment
