Who is Persevere? 

We provide a community of care to those who are involved in the correctional/rehabilitative life cycle.  An affiliate of Vant4ge, we are Persevere, a national non-profit organization providing a coding education program that not only teaches inmates and parolees how to code, but also provides job search and job placement services, instruction in the soft skills necessary for the work environment, life skills education, mentoring support and entrepreneurial training for starting their own businesses and marketing their coding services to companies nationwide.

Job Overview    

The Program Manager will be thoroughly committed to the Persevere mission.  The purpose of this role is to ensure the assigned programs achieve stated objectives.  This is a full-time salaried, overtime-exempt position with benefits.  Travel is required within Middle Tennessee approximately 50% of the time.  Qualified candidates will have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation .  This position requires the ability to pass a reference check and a drug screen.  Other duties may be assigned.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all work within the programs to ensure stated objectives are achieved

  • Identify, track and report to stakeholders all grant and contract metrics

  • Monitor implementation of program policies and best practices

  • Work to keep programs on schedule, within stated budgets and functioning smoothly

  • Track expenditures/transactions

  • Schedule and organize meetings, events and projects and maintain agenda

  • Manage hiring and onboarding of program staff

  • Ensure that all staff receive necessary training and professional development

  • Participate in training and professional development

  • Keep updated records and create reports or proposals

  • Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations

  • Coordinate with the Education department to ensure effective educational training of program participants that align with Persevere goals and objectives

  • Support the implementation of curriculum and best practices

  • Supervise classroom performance of both instructors and students 

  • Strategize and execute plans to increase student learning 

  • Lead the recruitment process of students

  • Interview potential students and oversee enrollment

  • Participate in marketing and PR efforts to support program growth and development

  • Assist with efforts to seek and secure additional funding for the programs, as needed

  • Help build positive relations within the team and external parties

  • Interact with partners, staff and stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications   

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Human Services or relevant work experience

  • Demonstrated successful experience in program or project management

  • Three or more years working with federal or state grants preferred

  • Experience working with the Department of Corrections Education programs highly desirable

  • Ability to communicate with clients, staff and stakeholders with tact and respect based on a thorough understanding of their needs, goals and challenges

  • Ability to manage and interact in large groups of people

  • Ability to form relationships and build trust with a diverse group of individuals

  • Ability to proactively address obstacles and problem solve

  • Ability to manage a complex workflow

  • Ability to identify and set priorities and make decisions

  • Ability to balance the objective goals with maintaining a high level of rapport
