An affiliate of Vant4ge, we are Persevere, a national non-profit organization providing a coding education program that not only teaches inmates and parolees how to code, but also provides job search and job placement services, instruction in the soft skills necessary for the work environment, life skills education, mentoring support and entrepreneurial training for forming their own businesses and marketing their coding services to companies nationwide.
Job Overview
The Director of Education develops and manages the delivery of a coding curriculum for all Persevere students, with the purpose of advancing Persevere’s mission of preparing them for meaningful and lucrative careers in the technology field. This position is also responsible for acquiring and maintaining program accreditation and grant funding.
General Responsibilities:
Create an educational framework for a full stack web development coding program including curriculum changes, delivery methods, testing, admittance criteria, aligned to best practices with data driven assessments to measure effectiveness, resulting in streamlined reporting to governing agencies and procurement of grant funding
Work with IT and lead instructors to ensure LMS feasibility, installation and implementation across all sites in Persevere
Manage Lead Instructors in each state as needed. Train, develop, have them train their instructors on what they need to do.
Lead the Federal Pell Grant accreditation process and coordinate activities, records and systems to achieve accreditation status and maintain accreditation standards, including the establishment of proper documentation demonstrating compliance
Develop an intervention system with academic and behavioral outcomes to assess and support student learning
Communicate and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders who can positively impact the educational experience
Train and retain skilled instructional staff to deliver desired program outcomes
Work with Persevere management on general funding initiatives

Job Duties:
Ensure that all contract requirements for the organization’s education/certification programs are met
Liaison between education and IT to build the infrastructure needed to deliver the coding program both in person, remotely and in prison and the community
Oversee organization, enhancement and delivery of the coding curriculum and teaching methods (I think we wrap this up with bullets above)
Develop and maintain coding assessments and intervention or enrichment systems for students that are aligned with current employer needs including our partner business, Banyan Labs
Be contact person for outside Accreditation agency to secure Federal national and/or state accreditation and procure grant funding
Stay up to date with current trends in coding education and state and federal certification standards and continuing education requirements
Identify internship qualifications and standards
Lead the recruitment, training and management of coding instructors for the delivery of technical curriculum
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or designee
Qualifications:
Proven experience managing people and processes to achieve organizational goals
Experience within an educational system with education administration experience preferable
Knowledge and understanding of full stack web development with MERN experience helpful
Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
Past success securing funding for an educational program beneficial
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
