THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
The annotator will be responsible for generating annotated documents, from the biomedical field, to enable the development of machine learning models. The annotation assignments will be completed and delivered through a custom web application.
Have the ability to read documents quickly and accurately, and quickly distinguish the meaning of specific terms. For example, does "IL-2a" refer to a biomarker being measured, or a treatment being administered, or is it an incidental mention?
Annotations generated will be evaluated in an on-going basis to ensure the highest possible levels of accuracy.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
MS (dissertation) or PhD in a biomedical field
BS acceptable with at least five years relevant laboratory/biopharma experience
Knowledgeable in the areas of: molecular biology, biomedical sciences, human disease, clinical development process, drug naming conventions, and diagnostic laboratory techniques
Reading of technical documents, for both speed and comprehension
Solid aptitude with computer OS of choice, web-based applications
Knowledge of hierarchical representations of biomedical entities, i.e. MeSH or GO, is desirable.
Experience with the biomarker discovery process in a diagnostics, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical development context is also desirable.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to work autonomously and meet required bi-weekly deadlines
Excellent communications skills, both verbally and in writing
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, & Google Slides or similar Microsoft Office software (the annotator application will be a different piece of software)
POSITION INFORMATION
This is a part time contract position with self-directed, flexible hours with defined bi-weekly deadlines.
Up to 5-10 hours / week, to be determined by the need for annotated documents
This position has the ability to be 100% remote if desired
