THE ROLE


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Front-End engineer with an emphasis on visualization. You will need to have solid Front-End web development experience with current Javascript frameworks and experience with creating BI and/or scientific visualizations. Ideally, you will have a background with search and/or scientific visualization.


Amplion is focused on leveraging sophisticated machine learning to read sources of biological and scientific information and collect, analyze and categorize the world’s biomarker knowledge.  You will support our effort to build a visualization/reporting engine on top of these proprietary databases. From tabular data to dashboards to network graph visualizations, you will use the right approach to unlock our data for our users.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Develop, create, and incorporate new components for user interaction and scientific data visualization, using modern APIs and frameworks (jQuery, jQuery UI, Node, Rails, React, et al.)


  • Work as an integral part of an agile Product team to deliver exceptional user experience

  • Deliver responsive and accessible code of high quality (automated test/build/deploy)



ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Computer Science or scientific field (engineering, physics), or equivalent experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in front-end development

  • A deep understanding of JavaScript/CSS/HTML5

  • Excellent JavaScript skills (including ES6+)

  • Basic knowledge of Python

  • Significant experience with visualization and/or OLAP tools such as D3, Looker, Tableau.

  • Deep knowledge of at least one modern Javascript framework (jQuery, Angular, React, Vue)

  • Well versed in agile methodology

  • Proven experience in problem-solving with little supervision

  • Demonstrated mastery of English language communication skills both written and verbal

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails

  • Life Science or Biotech background preferred but not required
