Shoreline was founded in 2019 by veteran AWS technologists and operators who built and maintained mission critical databases and cloud services that ran on millions of hosts using self-tuning feedback control systems.  We are headquartered in the Bay Area with employees around the world. We are hiring a Solution Engineer to help customers see the tremendous value Shoreline provides their on-call teams.  

  

The main responsibilities are to work with our account executives to show prospects all of the ways they can use the Shoreline platform and to then help them test and evaluate Shoreline in their own environments.  Because Shoreline is an early stage company, this role will also require evangelism through written content and speaking at technical online events.


What you'll be doing

  • Identifying business issues and relating them to Shoreline capabilities

  • Articulating Shoreline’s value proposition and differentiation at all levels within prospect organizations, including VPs/CTOs, SREs and developers

  • Building and delivering comprehensive customized demonstrations

  • Working within the sales team to own technical relationships with prospects from SRE to CIO

  • Managing delivering Proof of Concepts (POC)

  • Setting up Kubernetes clusters and other environments for demonstrations and POCs

  • Demonstrating success at working both independently and as a valued team player

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Managing a high number of concurrent active prospects

  • Ideally possessing 5 - 8 years of pre-sales experience

 

What you should have

If you’ve deployed, monitored, and debugged applications, databases, and other infrastructure then Shoreline is an excellent fit for you.

  • Well versed at interacting with computers through a CLI

  • Strong knowledge of bash and shell scripting

  • Experience administering Linux servers (OpenSSH, NFS, bind, Nginx/Apache, or other similar applications)

  • Knowledge of at least one distribution of Linux (Ubuntu, Centos, Amazon Linux, RHEL, Debian, etc.)

  • Used at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • 1+ year Kubernetes experience in production deployments

  • Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub actions, CircleCI, Spinnaker, or the equivalent)

  • Experience building Docker container images
