We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Microsoft Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team working with a Federal client. The Microsoft Infrastructure SME will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the organization’s Windows-based infrastructure. This encompasses Active Directory, DNS, Organizational Unit (OU) design and management, Active Directory site design, Group Policy, Certificate services, Office 365, PowerShell scripting, cloud services (Azure & AWS), and ADFS.
The position will be a remote role open to US citizens residing in the Washington, DC area of the United States with an ACTIVE SECRET security clearance.
Responsibilities and Duties
At least 5 years of experience in Windows infrastructure roles, especially in the areas outlined above.
Profound understanding of Windows Server OS and associated technologies.
Strong competency in PowerShell for administrative and automation tasks preferred.
In-depth knowledge of AD, Certificate Services, Azure/AWS, ADFS, and other core Windows services.
Familiarity with hybrid cloud configurations, Azure AD integrations, and other cloud-related services.
Strong troubleshooting skills and capability to work under pressure.
Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
Work in a fast-paced Agile environment with fluid requirements and changing priorities
Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner
Work closely with customers to implement and/or consult requested solutions.
Possess considerable logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems
Must be able to work independently with little to no daily supervision, is a team player, open to ideas and learning.
Work in a distributed team environment where team members are spread across numerous locations and often communicate virtually to support clients.
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Required skills:
Ability to work with US Federal clients and possess an ACTIVE SECRET clearance
Active Directory:
• Design, implement, and maintain Active Directory infrastructure.
• Oversee and manage AD replication, user authentication, and trusts.
• Monitor the health of the AD environment ensuring its scalability and reliability.
Active Directory Site Design:
• Plan, design, and manage AD sites and services.
• Optimize AD replication across various locations.
Group Policy:
• Establish, manage, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to adhere to organizational security and operational standards.
• Resolve GPO inheritance and conflict issues.
Certificate Services:
• Oversee and administer the internal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
• Handle certificate processes including issuance, revocation, and renewal.
Office 365:
• Administer and manage Office 365 components, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams.
• Ensure a seamless integration and migration towards Office 365 services.
• Remain updated on the latest Office 365 offerings and security measures.
Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS):
• Implement, manage, and troubleshoot ADFS for secure sharing of authentication across systems.
• Ensure integration of ADFS with various applications and services, both on-premises and cloud-based.
• Monitor and optimize the ADFS environment to maintain security and performance standards.
DNS:
• Implement and manage the DNS infrastructure, ensuring high availability and accuracy.
• Coordinate with network teams for seamless integration and configuration.
Desired skills:
Relevant certifications like MCSE, MCSA, Azure Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or related credentials.
Organizational Unit (OU) Design and Management:
• Design OUs to optimize delegation of control and group policy application.
• Maintain and adjust the OU structure, ensuring proper permissions and security.
PowerShell:
• Utilize PowerShell for administration, automation, and complex scripting tasks to streamline operations.
Cloud Services (Azure & AWS):
• Design, deploy, and manage resources within Azure and AWS environments.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure optimized cloud infrastructure and integration.
• Stay abreast of cloud best practices, cost-optimization strategies, and security standards.
