We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious PostgreSQL DBA to join our team working with a Federal client. The position will be a remote role open to US citizens residing in the United States with an ACTIVE SECRET or higher security clearance.
Responsibilities and Duties
Hands-on experience installing, managing and performance tuning of PostgreSQL database applications.
Additional knowledge of Hadoop and AWS RDS database instances is highly preferred.
Will be focused on production database administration for PostgreSQL & MySQL databases
Install, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL database.
Implement monitoring and alerting, implement backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning and assist in business process integration with various data sources.
Fulfill user requests ranging from access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production to performance tuning.
Provide online & on call coverage for production support and administration of PostgreSQL, Hadoop and AWS RDS DB instances.
Hands-on experience loading and performance tuning of data processes in PostgreSQL, Hadoop and AWS RDS instances.
Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
Work closely with customers to implement and/or consult requested solutions.
Possess considerable logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems
Must be able to work independently with little to no daily supervision, is a team player, open to ideas and learning.
Work in a distributed team environment where team members are spread across numerous locations and often communicate virtually to support clients.
Work as a team member closely with the Project Manager, Business Analyst, Technical lead and others to ensure implementations are completed on time and within budget
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL Database Administration/ Engineering
Ability to work with US Federal clients and possess an ACTIVE SECRET clearance
Required skills:
Strong SQL programming skill and be able to develop dba applications for system automation and integration.
Desired Skills:
Hands-on experience with Hadoop and AWS RDS DB instances is a big plus.
Understanding of JavaScript, AWS native services (e.g., Lambda, Step Function, S3, EC2) is a big plus.
Working knowledge of Hadoop, Oracle is a big plus
Ability to multi-task & support multiple priorities / multiple deliverables
Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Education Requirement:
4 year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Eng or related (highly preferred)
