We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Cloud Engineer to join our team working with a Federal client. The position will be a remote role open to US citizens residing in the Washington, DC area of the United States with an ACTIVE SECRET security clearance.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for migrating a wide range of production on-prem applications in a Government cloud setting following a design that ensures system security, performance, scalability, and uptime.

  • Leverage scripting languages, such as Python, Node.js, and Terraform, to drive the development of tools to increase automation and reduce cloud related expenses. 

  • Regularly evaluate cloud applications, processes, and software.

  • Develop and organize cloud systems.

  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.

  • Work closely with customer to implement and/or consult requested solutions.

  • Possess considerable logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems

  • Must be able to work independently with little to no daily supervision, is a team player, open to ideas and learning.

  • Work in a distributed team environment where team members are spread across numerous locations and often communicate virtually to support clients. 

  • Work as a team member closely with the Cloud Architect, Project Manager, Business Analyst, Technical lead and others to ensure implementations are completed on time and within budget


 

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience

  • Required skills: Terraform, Ansible, Amazon Web Services, Gitlab, Jenkins, Drupal, Angular JS / MV, Frameworks

  • Experience and strong understanding of AWS including Accounts, VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups, NAT Gateways, ALBs, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python and configuration languages such as YAML/JSON

  • Good understanding of AWS IAM configurations

  • Ability to work with US Federal clients and possess an ACTIVE SECRET clearance

  • Desired Skills: 

  • Software Engineering background is preferred

  • Experience writing custom terraform providers/plug-ins

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (i.e. GitLab, Jenkins) and their integration to infrastructure would be a plus

  • Optional Certification(s) would be a plus: Terraform Associate Certification, Amazon Cloud Solutions Architect

  • Executing the deployment of public cloud components based on designs originating from our cloud architects

  • Developing scripts to automate the deployment and maintenance of public cloud resources to improve efficiency, consistency, and security

  • Developing tools and functionality to reduce cloud related expenses

  • Analyzing current processes to identify areas for improvement by use of automation

  • Documenting processes which have been automated

  • Working as part of a team to ensure successful operation of cloud deployments

  • Reviewing access and permissions needed by application teams to operate cloud environments to ensure a high level of network security

  • Background in scripting or software design and development with tools such as Python, Node.js, and Terraform

  • Experience with AWS Govcloud platforms 

  • Knowledge of server administration in platforms such as Linux, Unix, and Windows

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to take the initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision

  • Background in scripting or software design and development with tools such as Python, Node.js, and Terraform

  • Skilled in verbal, written and oral communication

  • Strong team player with a great attitude

  • Flexibility and willingness to go beyond the call of duty. Highly self-motivated and directed.  (a go getter)

  • Ability to take ownership and drive issues to closure


Education Requirement:

  • 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Eng or related (highly preferred)
