Head of Investor Relations position at a real estate investment firm primarily focused on developing and investing in Qualified Opportunity Zones across the US heartland.  The Head of IR will work closely with the Managing Partners, Investment and Finance teams.  As we are a relatively new fund, applicants should bring an entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to help with the continued build-out of the Investor Relations department. 


About the Position

The position will have a dual-mandate of maintaining existing investor relationships, as well as meeting capital raise objectives with new investors. The Head of IR will work closely with the Investment team to understand and articulate existing investments, as well as position future investments within the portfolio. This position is well-suited for someone who has a passion for the sales process and has excellent communication skills. He or she must also have excellent organizational and follow up skills, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The candidate must possess thorough understanding of real estate investing and development, and have experience raising capital for investment vehicles in the real estate sector.

Client service and transparency are paramount to team success, so the ideal candidate must have a high service orientation and enjoy working directly with our investors and their financial advisors. All roles within the Investment Relations team are client-facing and therefore the candidate must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. The Head of IR must be self-motivated, as well as proactive in solving problems.  As our IR department is still fairly new (as is our firm), the ideal candidate will have a ‘roll up their sleeves’ attitude. The ideal candidate will have a background in/ knowledge of private equity investing (and the related documents) as well as the investor due diligence and investing process.


General Tasks

  • Establish and maintain regular communication with all existing Investors
  • Lead ongoing fund-raising effort for all investment vehicles.  This will include attending many investor meetings (sometimes with a Partner), and the extensive travel associated with attending these meetings
  • Assist with overall firm messaging and creation of fund marketing materials
  • Regular production and delivery of all required investor reporting
  • Liaise with Investment team about current and future deals
  • Act as investor liaison between Finance, Tax, Accounting, Legal, Operations and Compliance functions
  • Ensure proper maintenance of Investor database and Investor files
  • Liaise with Investors during onboarding and capital call processes
  • Advise Investment team on structuring of new funds and vehicles
  • Coordinate investor Annual Meeting


Qualifications

  • 3-5 years financial sales experience
  • An outgoing and energetic personality and the ability to establish and maintain relationships
  • Superior organization skills with great attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience helping build and shape investment strategy “messaging” and then developing the supporting collateral (Investor Presentations, Teasers, Regular Investor Reporting, etc.)
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Strong preference for a Series 7 FINRA registration
