The Director of Operations & Engineering for the Eastern and Central regions of the United States is responsible for the delivery of sustainability services and solutions to our clients that consistently exceed expectations, create trusted relationships, and align with our client’s business goals.    Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position is in charge of creating an annual operational plan and budget, directing the recruitment and hiring of personnel, establishing themselves in leadership roles within various industry organizations, and leading strategic initiatives that drive more client value. 


RESPONSIBILITIES - 

  • Develop and implement departmental strategy consistent with the corporate vision that follows the corporate business plan.
  • Manage all aspects of departments under Operations, including but not limited to: recruitment, initial and on-going staff orientation and training; supervision of daily management activities; defining, analyzing and reporting on department standards and metrics; approving PTO requests from managers; illness and injury reporting and proper documentation and delivery of performance counseling and evaluations.
  • Ensure Quality Management System requirements are met for departments including the management, creation, implementation and maintenance of all department processes, work instructions and forms.  Ensure process monitoring and reporting is completed as required.
  • Assist Human Resources Department with responsible department’s recruitment and hiring activities.
  • In conjunction with others, develop and implement training programs as needed to provide employees with education and training to meet professional standards, legal requirements or regulatory statutes including: development of professional or technical skills, appropriate business protocol and conduct and implementation of policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • In conjunction with other executives, directors or department managers, map out business processes and make recommendations for continual process improvement.
  • Prepare reports and recommend procedures to increase departmental efficiency and participate in business planning process.
  • Responsible for internal/external customer satisfaction for services provided by the department.
  • Draft and present effective project materials, including presentations, status-reporting, etc.
  • Approve purchase orders above $500 and below $5,000 for departments within the Operations Group.
  • Adherence to company policies, processes and work instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned by managing executives.


EXPERIENCE - 

  • 5 + years' experience within the building industry, preferably in the 3rd party inspection or compliance field.
  • Demonstrated Management Team leadership experience.
  • College degree or equivalent education/experience and 5 years management experience required.
  • Advanced computer skills, excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work in a high stress, high productivity and rapidly changing environment.
  • Good organizational abilities, oral communications and interpersonal skills are needed.
  • Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure is essential.
  • Work seamlessly with others both internally and externally to achieve the overall corporate goals as required.
