Pairwise has an exclusive 5-year research collaboration with Bayer to develop products in corn, soybean, wheat, canola, and cotton. Plus, Pairwise is developing new types of leafy greens, berries, and stone fruit, with the first product expected in early 2023. Pairwise is based in the start-up friendly Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina.


About This Role:

Pairwise will launch its first consumer product under the Conscious FoodsTM brand in 2023, kicking off what is expected to be speedy expansion toward a complex commercial portfolio over the next few years. As we enter new channels and geographies with multiple products over time, the level of support required from strategic finance and FP&A is expanding, and we’re looking to grow the team. This role will support strategy and financial planning/reporting for both the commercial business and corporate development, which drives future business opportunities. These functions all work closely together to ensure that we are growing a responsible business with consistent strategic direction and reporting practices, and this new role will be an immediate contributor to our dynamic team.


Essential Functions:

Being a fast-growingp, our needs are consistently evolving; however, we will expect the successful candidate to:

• Provide analytical, financial modeling, and storytelling support for the refinement of our long-range plan and corporate and business unit strategies.

• Manage research and analysis as needed as we evaluate new commercial and corporate development opportunities.

• Assist with managing fundraising activities, as needed.

• Support ongoing corporate finance work, for example: supply and demand planning for Conscious FoodsTM to enable forecasting and subsequent analysis/reporting of actual results relative to those forecasts.

• Take on additional special projects as we grow related to pricing, product, partnership evaluation, etc.


Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in corporate finance, accounting, strategy, innovation, or other relevant fields.

• 2-3 years in investment banking or management consulting.

• Demonstrated ability to understand and develop financial models in Excel, visualize and derive insights from data, in particular using data visualization systems such as Power BI and Tableau.

• Solid business acumen; capacity to contextualize outputs of financial models and reports and articulate their implications.

• Experience in financial planning systems, such as SmartSheets and Workday Adaptive Planning.

• Experience communicating complex ideas concisely verbally, in writing, and in PowerPoint.

• Exposure tops and/or experience working in a matrixed and/or fast-growing organization is beneficial.

• Experience with perishable goods, consumer products, food, agriculture, retail, or food service, a plus.
