About This Role:

The Controlled Environment (CE) Manager will be responsible for delivering key projects in the Product Discovery and Development program, including plant regeneration post-transformation and phenotypic assays in both greenhouses and growth chambers. This role will manage a team of Research Associates and Senior Research Associates responsible for delivering on projects in the controlled environments. This role will also be part of Pairwise’s scientific team and report to the Head, Product Optimization and Production. This position will be critical both to delivering on the scientific strategy and guiding the culture of the CE organization.


Essential Functions:

• Deliver stable environments in the greenhouse and growth chamber suitable for plant regeneration, trait testing and life cycle management.

• Manage Research Associates and Senior Research Associates in the Controlled Environment (CE) Team to successfully execute activities and deliver innovations related to plant growth management.

• Manage resources within the controlled environments across numerous projects and pipeline priorities.

• Conduct experiments and implement results to improve growth conditions, optimize growth, plant regeneration and seed production for various crops in the controlled environment.

• Collaborate across multifunctional teams to develop insights and drive the innovation culture.


Required Education & Experience:

• Master’s in Botany, Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Horticulture or related field.

• 5+ years of experience leading and managing scientific teams.

• Track record of developing and delivering on research programs.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a cross functional environment.
