About This Role:

Pairwise is seeking Portfolio Manager to oversee our consumer crop R&D portfolio of projects. The Portfolio Management & Collaborations team bridges all of Pairwise to develop and implement our long-term portfolio strategy, helps execute the near-term strategy by providing operational thought leadership to the project portfolio, and acts as key account manager to our external collaborations. The consumer crop Portfolio Manager will have the opportunity to have a leadership position in bringing the first gene-edited produce to consumers in the US, help to establish a culture of project management and process at Pairwise, all with high visibility to company leadership. The ideal candidate is an individual who can function and communicate with confidence across all Pairwise (R&D, commercial, operations, regulatory, quality, finance).


Essential Functions:

• Provide thought leadership to the consumer crop portfolio and project stakeholders

• Facilitate discussions about resource allocation across the consumer crop portfolio of projects based upon commercial value

• Lead the consumer crop portfolio of projects through the annual planning cycle to update yearly goals, plans and budget

• Be a standard bearer of project management best management practices, helping develop process (when necessary) with key stakeholders to support them

• Work directly with project workstreams to identify, map and track key goals (goals at Pairwise include corporate, phase, project, and workstream goals)

• Communicate status of project goals and risks to the project stakeholders and Pairwise leadership

• Facilitate risk response plans with project teams and aid in the communication to leadership of the impacts of the risk response plan

• Effectively influence, implement (as needed), manage and communicate project changes (scope, schedule, risks, costs)


Required Education & Experience:

• BS in engineering, science, or other technical degree. Graduate degree desired. PMP certification a plus

• 5-7 years of experience in project / program / portfolio management spanning early-stage R&D to product launch

• Experience in agricultural and/or CPG perishable food product launches; CPG perishable food experience preferred

• Expert communication, collaboration, and people skills • Broad acumen across the business (R&D, commercial, operations, regulatory, quality, finance)
