Healthcare Data Analyst

Carolina Complete Health Network is a vibrant business that engages with providers on behalf of a Medicaid prepaid health plan in North Carolina. The plan we work with, Carolina Complete Health, is the only provider-led entity among the plans in the state’s recently transformed Medicaid system. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art care to Medicaid beneficiaries, resulting in better health and improved health equity at lower cost.


The Healthcare Data Analyst will be part of a small team focused on provider-centric data. The position involves working on a daily basis with this team and interfacing with other internal staff and external stakeholders. The analyst will gather, analyze, and interpret data on health, healthcare, and social drivers of health from multiple sources (project records, insurance claims, electronic health records, etc). The analyst will also translate findings into clear, compelling and actionable narratives to facilitate understanding and progress. The position reports into the Senior Performance Analyst.


Key Responsibilities:

Obtain, clean, process, and integrate a variety of quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources (e.g. cost, claims, clinical, operational and demographic data)

• Evaluate and pre-process source data

• Identify and evaluate alternative sources for relevant data

• Autonomously delve into data to discover discrepancies, patterns and opportunities

• Recommend and execute analytic approaches

• Build models using data to assess alternative scenarios

• Document and describe findings in a clear, accessible way to provide insight to internal and external stakeholders

• Collaborate with management and internal teams to evaluate improvements

• Travel requirement is up to 15% time



Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

BS/BA in quantitative field (Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field).

Proven experience in healthcare data analysis (2+ years)

• Proficient in SQL, analytics tools and visual presentation through BI (e.g. SAS, Tableau, MicroStrategy)

• Knowledge of health care, managed care, Medicare or Medicaid. Claims billing/coding & EHR knowledge

• Understanding of healthcare processes and procedures

• Experience in data analysis and visualization methods

• Excellent analytical and communication skills

• Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude

• Demonstrated success in leading analytics projects in a consulting environment
