Position Purpose: The (Senior) Healthcare Data Analyst will gather and analyze healthcare data from multiple sources (e.g. insurance claims, electronic health records, provider directories/demographics, clinical operations, patient behavior, etc.) to extract trends and business insights (clinical, operational and financial).  Translate findings into clear, compelling and actionable narratives to facilitate understanding and progress. Help direct the work of other analysts.  Reports to the VP, Strategy & Performance Analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand healthcare landscape, trends, operations, systems and reporting
  • Clean and process large structured and unstructured data sets from multiple data sources to glean insights and identify opportunities for targeting and optimization
  • Extract and integrate data from disparate sources (e.g. cost, claims, clinical, operational and demographic data)
  • Evaluate and pre-process raw information (source data); identify and evaluate alternative sources for relevant data
  • Delve into data to discover discrepancies, patterns and opportunities
  • Leverage advanced analytic tools to derive insight
  • Present and explain information in a clear, accessible way (verbal, written, presentation, etc.) to internal and external audiences.
  • Build models to evaluate potential future scenarios
  • Suggest ways to both increase healthcare quality, reduce costs and streamline operations
  • Collaborate with management and internal teams to implement and evaluate improvements
  • Help support basic office IT environment and equipment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in quantitative field (Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field). 
  • Proven experience as a Healthcare Data Analyst (3+ years / 7+ years)
  • Proficient in SQL, analytics tools and visual presentation through BI (e.g. SAS, Tableau, MicroStrategy)
  • Knowledge of health care, managed care, Medicare or Medicaid. Claims billing/coding & EHR knowledge preferred. 
  • Understanding of healthcare processes and procedures. 
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization methods
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills. 
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude. 
  • Demonstrated success in leading analytics projects in a consulting environment
  • Current state driver’s license.
