Description:

Acumera is the leader in Edge Computing for the Retail and Hospitality industry. Our customers are some of the largest and best known global store, restaurant, and hospitality brands. Our solution is built on a cutting edge Linux based virtualization stack that features total management through a devops driven infrastructure. We design, develop, and maintain a software stack that includes a core virtualization solution built on Debian Linux with LXC, KVM and Docker, with supporting management code built in Puppet and Ruby. Our back-end management environment includes Ruby, Rails, and Redis components. The Linux Systems Engineer performs production systems integration work involving Linux, networking, open source tools, and automation, to implement our solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with clients or project manager to integrate the Reliant Edge Platform solution into their environment for their needs.
  • Update any additional security settings for the enterprise firewalls
  • Demonstrate best-practice knowledge and apply skills to deliver an effective solution specific to client needs.
  • Interface with development team on projects for clients as well as QA.
  • Some occasional travel to client sites may be required.

Requirements:

  • Experience with medium to large scale production environments.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux systems and services (sysadmin skills)
  • Familiarity with low level linux diagnostic utilities such as ltrace/strace a plus
  • Strong understanding and experience with networking and network services such as firewall (iptables), DNS (bind), Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc), TCP/IP (IPv4, IPv6), VLANs, and VPNs (both TLS and IPSEC)
  • Strong skills in scripting (such as bash, python, Groovy, Ruby, etc.)
  • Familiarity with any of Hiera, Redis, or Postgres a plus
  • Familiarity with Git or other version/code management a must
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes
  • Minimum 1 years of hands-on Linux Systems Administration experience
  • Experience with log analysis, monitoring and alerting systems a plus (e.g. Splunk/Sensu/etc)
  • Experience with AWS EC2 services.
  • Experience with systems automation (e.g. Puppet/Chef/Ansible/Salt), Puppet experience a plus.
  • Solid grasp of security concepts and technologies.
  • Ability to work as a team as well as individually
  • Experience with lower powered devices and system tuning.
  • Understanding of virtualization in Linux platforms, particularly, experience with QEMU/KVM a plus.
  • Good understanding and experience with the Windows Server and Desktop OS a plus.
  • Experience with payment processing or PCI a plus


Work Location:

  • This is a full-time position with a preference to work from Acumera’s Austin or Tallahassee office.
