Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the contract work flow for all Game Seven Marketing projects. You will be responsible for assisting with drafting, negotiating, and revising a broad range of contracts. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel and assisting the Company with identification and implementation of practical business solutions to achieve its goals. You will need to be highly organized, solutions- and customer service-oriented, pragmatic and proactive in your approach to assigned tasks, and be able to work both collaboratively and autonomously.

The Contracts Manager must have a strong understanding of contracts and agreements and be sufficiently qualified to review and negotiate them with short turnaround times. 

This position works closely with all departments (and the legal department of Company’s parent organization, Excel Sports Management) on SOWs, general vendor engagement, and talent agreements, among others, and is responsible for identifying and assessing risk, ensuring legal compliance, including with respect to intellectual property rights.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Draft, analyze, review, and negotiate various agreements including but not limited to (i) venue contracts and license agreements; (ii) vendor service contracts; (iii) talent agreements; and (iv) content production contracts, and (v) other types of legal and non-legal documents;

  • Draft and obtain all appropriate releases and release agreements to ensure that all necessary music and talent usage rights are secured with respect to any content productions;

  • Review client scopes of work to ensure that all usage rights and other legal concerns are addressed;

  • Advise on legal and business affairs matters for the organization including, but not limited to, development, production and post-production of all Company projects from a legal and financial standpoint;

  • Oversee corporate compliance and ensure that contractual and legal obligations are met;

  • Review programs and promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable principles, policies, and applicable law;

  • Advise the Company and senior leadership on a broad range of federal and state regulatory and compliance matters including identifying areas of risk, making suggestions for improvement, and assisting with various compliance efforts; and

  • Other duties as assigned.

 Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school;

  • 2-4 years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house counsel, or other relevant legal experience; and

  • Current member in good standing of the NY Bar.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently, while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams;

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside counsel, executive and senior management, and business associates;

  • Experience in sports, media or entertainment industry law department or at law firm in relevant practice group strongly preferred;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of personalities and styles in a fast-paced business environment (including explaining complex and sensitive concepts to clients and colleagues);

  • Solid analytic skills, creative problem-solving abilities and a practical business-oriented viewpoint;

  • Meticulous attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and produce quality work within deadlines;

  • Outstanding drafting and organizational skills; and

  • Positive attitude focused on problem solving through a proactive and team-oriented approach to work.

The pay range for this position is: $90,000 per year - $120,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
