Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to identify and resolve complex legal issues to support the legal team. You will be responsible for assisting with drafting, negotiating, and revising a broad range of contracts. You will also work cross-functionally with relevant divisions, marketing managers, agents and other stakeholders to ensure timely routing, approval, and execution of such contracts. You will work closely with the other members of the legal team, and will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel and assisting the Company with identification and implementation of practical business solutions to achieve its goals. You will need to be highly organized, solutions and customer service-oriented, pragmatic and proactive in your approach to assigned tasks, and able to work both collaboratively and autonomously.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drafts, analyzes, reviews, and negotiates talent marketing agreements (including endorsement, appearance, memorabilia, trading card, and licensing agreements), event services/management agreements, service agreements, media agreements, and other types of agreements and legal and non-legal documents;

  • Depending on experience level, assists on or negotiates/drafts corporate and employment agreements;

  • Resolves disputes (with commercial parties, athletes, or employees) and negotiates settlements;

  • Reviews marketing programs and promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable principles, policies, and applicable law;

  • Advises the company and senior leadership on a broad range of federal and state regulatory and compliance matters including identifying areas of risk, making suggestions for improvement, and assisting with various compliance efforts;

  • Leads significant projects, both within the legal department and across a variety of functions; and

  • Other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school;

  • Admission to NY State Bar or California Bar;

  • 1-4 years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house counsel, or other relevant legal experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently, while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams;

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside counsel, executive and senior management, and business associates;

  • Experience in sports, media or entertainment industry law department or at law firm in relevant practice group strongly preferred;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of personalities and styles in a fast-paced business environment (including explaining complex and sensitive concepts to clients and colleagues);

  • Solid analytic skills, creative problem-solving abilities and a practical business-oriented viewpoint;

  •  Meticulous attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and produce quality work within deadlines;

  • Outstanding drafting and organizational skills; and

  • Positive attitude focused on problem solving through a proactive and team-oriented approach to work.


The pay range for this position is: $90,000 per year - $120,000 per year. This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus.

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
